Another standout track driven by a rolling acoustic rhythm and seasoned dobro slides, “Steel on Wheels” is a travelling song in the great tradition — equal parts motion and metaphor. The guitar mimics the steady pulse of wheels on track, while Gardner’s lyrics ride themes of departure, distance, and the quiet momentum of change with earthy instrumentation and a world-weary warmth. This track has an extended outro featuring ambient acoustic slide guitar.

Formed in Detroit, Michigan in 2024, Deaf Tonics is a virtual American hard rock band, organized by creator Colin Taylor, that incorporates the stoner/desert rock sounds of California, the grunge rock sound of Seattle, the garage rock sound of Detroit, alternative, and heavy metal. The band's sound is often intense and raw. The band often evokes sardonic lyrics and aggressive riffs to get your blood going.

The band's debut album, Octane Red, was recorded in November and December of 2024, and released January 2025 on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
