While we wait for the next Dancing With Friends Vol.3 V/A album to drop later this summer @slothboogie give us our next fix with a new spin off called Remixing With Friends. As you’d guess from the name… the project invites their global roster of friends and family of the label to take a deep dive through the SB archive and pick out some tracks to remix and make their own.

It’s time once again to grab your friends and get to the floor as SlothBoogie take us for a 16-track ride through all facets of their sound. The London-based crew calls up familiar faces and brings in new names for the third volume of their Dancing With Friends compilation series. It’s a varied, juicy bunch of tracks, starting the vibes off in the innocent sunshine before descending into the sort of raw atmosphere you’d find in a dimly-lit club basement.

Delectable deep house features in the form of Philippa’s jazzy ‘Chet's Vibe’, the funk-infused ‘Skleyka’ by Lowres and the intimate, sexy ‘We On Dis Ting’ by Tiptoes. Intr0beatz also smashes out a lovely slab of key-laden house in his signature style on ‘While You're Here’ and the final track of the comp, ‘So Sure’ by HNQO is a sample-heavy broken beat that stops and starts and falls subconsciously into a highly danceable groove. An honourable mention goes out to ‘Raw Disco Bastards’ by Craftmanship, too, which leads the pack in taking things dirtier and deeper.

Slipping you gently into the nighttime, Baby Rollén’s ‘Study In Serenity’ offers an electronic acid squelch while the likes of Sudden Moves' ‘Take Back’, King Julian's ‘I Miss You’ and The Revenge's ‘Take Hold (Dub)’ cruise through with polished, elegant house music.

If tops have come off and you’re looking for a faster energy, look no further than Ruff Stuff’s pummelling no-holds-barred ‘Stab Culture’. Or check out Demuir’s absolutely baffling madness on ‘Industry State’ – insane.

Dancing With Friends Vol.3 throws curveballs in left, right and centre. Kristy Harper’s ‘Out Of Character’ is one – her vocals ride over a fast almost hyperpop style beat. Jive Talk’s ‘4EVA 4C1D’ is a hedonistic, head-turning, bubbling acid bassline centred around luscious breaks.

Scruscru's ‘Camel Ride’ pairs a frenzy of percussion with dubbed-out horns and yet another acid bassline to form a proper peak-time banger. We can’t not mention Donald Dust’s fantastic ‘Aftercare’. Here, a Giorgio Morodor-esque arpeggiating synth riff floats over punching drums to add a splash of retro Cowley to the collection.

From the sun traps of London’s rooftops to the windowless chaos of Studio 54, SlothBoogie provides for all and doesn’t hold back an inch.

Ruff Stuff teams up with Bress Underground for a long awaited return to SB... a new collection of Deep House tracks of the highest order from these Italian House Heads. Foundations is a steam roller of a track calling on Ruff Stuff’s love for Mr.G, with some tasty French House accents adding a nice funk factor. Sliding Sine makes us wanna go felt pelt on an Autobahn with its rich bass stabs under late night synth echoes with tough drum programming.

Bress Underground comes aboard to collab on the next two tracks and makes his presence felt. The Community is a punchy gospel House cut with crackling vocal samples and trippy chord patterns. Something About It closes the EP with expertly chopped vocals and jacked out grooves, more catchy chords, and some irresistible rolllllling London style bass.

"We’ve been huge fans of Pacific Coliseum for a long time, so we’re very proud to present an EP with him on SB and who better to introduce the release than the man from Vancouver himself... 'After four years, it feels amazing to return to my Pacific Coliseum project with the Breeze FM EP. This record came together in a really beautiful, collaborative way, between myself and the SlothBoogie crew. I sent over a handful of demos, and together we compiled and developed this record, which feels both fresh and true to the sound of my previous releases. I wanted to have the record bounce around a bit in terms of tempos and feels: Wine Host has a nice sunset, downtempo feel; Breeze FM taps into a deeper, jazzier sound; Feel Free is a peak time Italo jam. Something for everyone! The whole thing is rounded off with Tech Support’s remix of Feel Free, which re-imagines the tune as an electro stomper. I’ve got a lot planned for this project in the year to come, and this feels like the perfect way to reintroduce myself to people."

Ralph Rodriguez, aka Ralph Session, is a New York City DJ and producer whose blend of New York and Chicago house style has gained support over the years from the likes of Jimpster, Mr. V, Cinthie, Oliver Dollar, Laurent Garnier and many more.

2024 has already been a big year for Ralph seeing him release on a dreamy line up of House labels. Highlights include Local Talk, Freerange with Juliet Mendoza, Quintessentials and now it's time to join the SlothBoogie crew for the Late Night Madness EP.

The EP starts off with Madness… a moody late night burner unveiling this release dedicated to classic house sounds. Deep chords and driving percussion swirl and build into a G-funk breakdown and bubbling synth tones.

You Are Here keeps the twilight vibes going and takes us on a seductive trip with chopped up jazzy loops, crackling drums and hushed vocals. A perfect love letter to the haze of the afters.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
