Às vezes é preciso mudar os móveis do lugar. Desarrumar. Esqueçamos por um momento as prateleiras ordenadas da música. Pop, rock, clássica ou electrónica. Pensemos em música sem classificações, como a vida, orgânica, imprevisível e misteriosa, aceitando que não conseguimos decifrar tudo, a partir de uma música instrumental de sensibilidade clássica, onde o piano é omnipresente, bem como os ambientes e uma consciência que parece pop.
 
Élvio Rodrigues é Slowburner. É da popular ou da clássica? Da aprendizagem formal ou autodidata? O que interessa por agora é que existe um single e um videoclipe (“All the possibilities of the universe”) para mergulhar, e em Setembro haverá todo um álbum (“Life Happens In The Interim”) para decifrar.
 
Não é um desconhecido (antes já lançou o EP “Before I Return To Dust” em 2017 e a mixtape “Sunday Mornings Are For Piano” em 2019), mas dir-se-ia que este é um renovar de energias, como se fosse a primeira vez. No tema e vídeo que agora são revelados são representadas realidades diversas, com Élvio tentando equilibrar as diferentes facetas da vida – os afetos, o tempo, a saúde, o mundo interno em contraponto ao externo – como a sua música, balanço entre notas de piano, tempo, espaço, percussão e atmosfera. Música que sugestiona, que convida à imersão, um lugar mental aberto às mais diversas possibilidades. Como o álbum que será lançado depois do Verão.
 
Serão nove temas de notas ou cascatas de piano, sons concretos do quotidiano (o mar, as ruas, as crianças), ambientes e ocasionais motivos percussivos. Um território híbrido, seu. Mas ao qual se pode tentar dar uma família, ou várias famílias, porque não existe uma nomenclatura consensual para os nomear. Neoclássicos, pós-clássicos, clássicos modernos, são algumas dessas denominações que foram sendo arremessadas para o espaço público nos últimos anos, no fim de contas, refletindo a dificuldade em situar a música de Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds ou Max Ritcher, em fórmulas estáveis.
 
Slowburner está, e não está, aí. Está num ponto de confluências, onde se incluem diversos elementos sonoros e diferentes formas de os experimentar, com essa certeza de que é música que é capaz de transformar a relação connosco próprios, e a realidade circundante, através de sons calorosos e intimistas, mostrando que a realidade é por vezes mais fascinante, porque imperfeita e imprevisível, do que as prateleiras onde a tentamos arrumar.
 
Élvio Rodrigues é Slowburner, da Madeira, a viver em Lisboa. Mas isso é de onde vem. Relevante, mas não determinante. Na sua música está inscrito para onde quer ir. E isso é que é importante para quem quiser ir com ele.

Após o impacto inicial do single “All the possibilities of the universe”, Slowburner, o projeto musical de Élvio Rodrigues, está de volta com um novo tema. “Wildcard”, o segundo single do álbum de estreia Life Happens In The Interim, já está disponível e promete cativar a atenção com a sua mensagem poderosa e o videoclipe intrigante, em que a narrativa visual se entrelaça com o conceito da música.

Em “Wildcard”, Slowburner explora o poder do livre-arbítrio, uma metáfora que transforma a vida num jogo onde cada um de nós tem uma carta especial - a "wildcard" - que pode mudar o curso da nossa existência. Contudo, como na vida, também aqui é necessário discernimento para saber quando e como usar essa carta. Este single é acompanhado por um videoclipe que, tal como a música, navega entre o real e o simbólico. Filmado nos campos do Alentejo, o vídeo transporta o espectador para um cenário onírico, onde a descoberta de uma carta misteriosa leva o protagonista (Slowburner) a uma experiência surreal, culminando num final aberto e cheio de possibilidades, deixando o público a questionar o que é real e o que é apenas um reflexo dos desejos mais profundos.

A música é, talvez, a arte que melhor capta a matéria indefinível de que são feitos os sonhos. Por exemplo, Élvio Rodrigues, mais conhecido por Slowburner. Senta-se ao piano e aquilo sai-lhe quase naturalmente. Uma gravidade emocional colocada ao serviço de uma música generosa que parece captar esses estados liminares quando o dia dá lugar à noite, ou quando desejamos que um sonho se prolongue, como se não quiséssemos acordar para a mundanidade, ou quando um rumor emocional que vem de dentro se dilui no som, luz ou nas formas abstratas da água em movimento. 
 
É assim “Daydreaming”, o novo e terceiro single, que é também videoclipe, do projeto Slowburner. É um tema instrumental para piano e ambientes, retirado do álbum “Life Happens In The Interim”, lançado no mês de Setembro. É um tema que serve também para comunicar que vêm aí as primeiras datas de apresentação do disco em palco, que irão acontecer em 2025.  Em Janeiro e Fevereiro será realizado um circuito de apresentação por várias FNAC, sempre às 17 horas. A 11 de Janeiro, Colombo, e a 12, em Oeiras. Em Fevereiro, a 8, será a vez do Chiado, enquanto a 9, Almada, a 22, Alfragide e 23, Vasco Da Gama.  A 13 de Fevereiro, a Casa do Comum, ao Bairro Alto, pelas 19h, também vai receber o piano de Slowburner. Mais tarde serão reveladas novas datas por outros pontos do país.
 
Não é fácil categorizar a música encantatória de Slowburner, ou seja, Élvio Rodrigues, algures entre a sensibilidade clássica, melodias e ambientes mais pop, e a omnipresença de um piano insinuante, imprevisível e misterioso.  Antes do álbum, já havia lançado o EP “Before I Return To Dust” (2017) e a mixtape “Sunday Mornings Are For Piano” (2019), mas dir-se-ia que, este ano, é como se estivesse a recomeçar tudo de novo, apostando numa música contemporânea delicada, com atenção a noções como tempo, espaço e atmosfera, partilhando nesse campo algumas afinidades com figuras europeias de afirmação global como Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds ou Max Richter. Depois do álbum e singles, segue-se a prova dos palcos.

New to the scene is Sydney-based underground artist and bush doof enthusiast - Unkie Ram. After his extensive milage on the dancefloor throughout his young adult life at various raves and bush doofs, he decided that his passion for music burned deeper than just being a listener. He felt a creative presence within his blood and bones. 

In 2023, this young artist made his debut as a professional DJ and music producer, releasing five spicy self-release singles of house and tech house. Whilst only being self-released, Unkie Ram’s singles still managed to rake in the views, likes and appraisals from his growing audience, reaching over 65 countries around the world. However, Unkie Ram dabbles in more than just a few simple genres and wanted to be something more than just following the status-quo. It was time to break some rules. Breach beyond genre limitations. It was time to take his true creative form…

Unkie Ram’s electric and innovative style will deeply engage you from the get-go with his intense scene setting and storytelling, leading you on a progressing journey of intense euphoria. I am London, United Kingdom based and started mixing in February 2023 on a Numark DJ2GO2 Touch.

I mix music for my own amusement mostly, but I'm thrilled if you fancy what you're hearing. In August 2023, I moved away from Numark and went for a Pioneer DDJ-FLX4.
My to go genres are: house, afro and tribal, electronic, deep house, trance, techno and minimal(but never set for less).

I love music in general, especially if it has transcending beats or thought-provoking message embedded in the track. I always had an almost organic desire to start mixing music myself, despite the fear of failure.

I always thought that:
When music gives you goosebumps, you’re on the right track.
