Decadence generally refers to excessive luxury, excessive self-indulgence and a tendency towards wasteful or immoral behavior. "The citizens do no have bread!!!!" ---> Marie Antoinette's saying "Let them eat cake..." is a symbol of the lack of empathy and understanding on the part of the ruling class for the needs and hardships of the people. It is a reminder that a government that is indifferent to the needs of its citizens cannot survive in the long term.
