MY ROOM

This one was not supposed to be a hip-hop song. I originally started writing a rock song that spoke to society and social media fakeness, but it evolved over the last few months into this. Heavy in metaphors and commentary on the prevealance of social media use that has the multitudes seeking external validation that turns cyclical. It is a little bit of a mind f@ck when you really think about it.

I been stuck inside the glow, screen burn in my retina,
Everybody loud online, real life gettin’ regular.
Push a headline every hour, they be stirrin’ the kettle up,

Algorithm hold my habits like a hostage,
Selling me a worldview in installments.
Short clips eat attention like piranhas,
Whole world sped up, drama after drama.

I don’t feel the seconds pass, everything’s a slideshow,

Tapped into the feed like an IV drip,
Silent in the room but the chaos still violent.
