This episode exclusively features artists from parts of the world that have been affected by colonialism, American intervention, and Western capitalism. To put it frankly, minimal synth as it is generally defined is very, very White. I've tried to feature a few artists every episode from outside of Western Europe, America, and Canada. Seeing the unimaginable horror unfolding in Palestine and Lebanon, I wanted to make something that showed the DIY spirit from unexpected places. It's a very small gesture, but in my opinion that doesn't make it unimportant.

3.	Umoja wa Mataifa umelaani shambulio lililotekelezwa hii leo na majeshi ya Urusi katika mji mkuu wa Ukraine, Kyivv na kusababisha vifo vya watu kadhaa akiwemo mtoto mwenye umri  wa miaka sita huku watu wengine kadhaa wakijeruhiwa..

JARIDA LA HABARI ZA UMOJA WA MATAIFA 3 JULAI 2025 NA LEAH MUSHI

An education specialist who left Somalia as a child when the civil war broke out in 1991 has now returned to support the Ministry of Education as they expand national testing.  

The programme which enabled this specialist, named Shire Salad, to return — Migration for Development in Africa or MIDA — is run by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and recruits diaspora experts who have  a “personal desire to give back."  

MIDA then pairs these experts with local professionals who work together to advance the development of hospitals, schools and other institutions. While the diaspora experts ultimately leave, the hope is that their skills will remain.  

UN News’ Naima Sawaya spoke with Mr. Salad about his experience returning to Somalia after so many years.

Part One of a 3-Part Series for 2025 as we approach the anniversary of Operation Gothic Serpent - "Black Hawk Down"

In this episode, Tara Harris, daughter of First Sergeant Glenn Harris, talks about her father and all of the men who served with him as part of Operation Gothic Serpent in Mogadishu, that became known as The Battle of Black Hawk Down based on the movie.

Today, Tara gathers photos, interviews, and archives to preserve the stories of her father, but also of all of B Company, 3rd Ranger Battalion before and after Operation Gothic Serpent, Somalia — including the Somalia deployment, the training and daily lives of Rangers of that period, and life then and now at the B Company 3/75 day room. She digitizes records and connects veterans and families so the Rangers’ experiences and legacies from Task Force Ranger are remembered and shared.

AfricaNow! September 24, 2025 Foreign Involvement in Sudan’s War Dissected

Topic and Guest: Since war broke out on April 15, 2023 in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo a.k.a. Hemedti over 13 million people have been displaced—internally and externally as refugees abroad; tens of thousands have been killed; and over 20 million people (about half of the population) face acute food insecurity.  The show features a recent conversation dissecting foreign involvement in the war in Sudan with Mosaab Baba, of Ayin Network–a media outlet in Sudan.  The conversation dissects and contextualizes the conflict focusing particularly on external players exacerbating the war and regional dynamics; and the exploitation of Sudan's resources.

AfricaNow! Sep. 24, 2025 Foreign Involvement in Sudan's War Dissected

A Ranger recounts the sudden shift from training to chaos after the “boom” — helicopters struck, smoke and gunfire, and a race through Mogadishu to extract teammates. They focused on the Ranger Creed.

The episode traces Colonel Larry Perino's (then Lieutenant) path from West Point and Ranger training to Task Force Ranger in Somalia, describing fast‑rope assaults, ambushes, downed aircraft, and the desperate vehicle and foot exfil under heavy fire.

He reflects on the losses, survivor’s guilt, the duty to remember fallen comrades, and how the experience shaped leadership and care for soldiers afterward.

Tackling extreme poverty and financing for food systems in Africa
Organized by IFPRI and partners on the margins of the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings

Join speakers from IFPRI, IFAD, UNU-WIDER and the World Bank for a high-level seminar exploring two major African priorities – poverty reduction and food systems transformation in sub-Saharan Africa. Speakers will highlight the need to make progress on reducing poverty in fragile and conflict-affected areas across the continent, and the need to examine how most effectively to finance food systems amidst declining external funding flows.  

An inaugural World Bank- UNU-WIDER report on poverty and fragility, being previewed at this seminar, indicates that Sub-Saharan Africa has become the epicenter of the poverty–fragility nexus, with some 70% of people in fragile and conflict affected areas now living in the region and half of the world’s extreme poor projected to reside in fragile SSA states by 2030.

The Africa Report on External Development Financial Flows to Food Systems, recently released by IFAD, AKADEMIYA2063, and IFPRI—analyzes the volume and composition of development finance directed toward African food systems, and implications of decreasing external flows, also for national financing strategies.

This timely discussion will spotlight urgent financing needs and policy pathways to reduce poverty in the most vulnerable regions of Africa and strengthen food systems across the continent. It will also underscore the critical role of robust evidence and data-driven analysis in guiding effective financing strategies and policies —particularly as governments and development partners confront the dual pressures rising fragility and declining external flows. By grounding decisions in rigorous research, stakeholders can better align resources with impact and chart more resilient, equitable paths forward.
