Alt-Rock gem from 2004. I produced a version of a cover of this song Forked by Sarah Cleary over on BandLab earlier this year. She did a great job on that one. I like the song alot so decided to give the vocals a try. Well, here it is in G-major I played and sang everything. ***NEW VERSION*** This one sounds more like the original Keane "rock" version and less like the Sarah Cleary ballad version. Somewhere Only We Know OPEN VERSE

Early last year Sarah Cleary released her cover of this song over on Band Lab which she had forked/shared for others to create with. She provided a heartfelt and touching performance with just voice and piano. Well I imagined her performing onstage with a full band. Maybe she'd sound something like this? I added the band parts and included a nice bit of guitar on the tail :) Many thanks to Sarah for the fork, and hope y'all like it :)

"Somewhere Only We Know" is a song originally composed and performed by English alternative rock band Keane, released as the first single from their debut album, Hopes and Fears (2004). The single peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart during its first week of sales, becoming the band's signature song and biggest hit single to date. In 2013, the song was covered by Lily Allen for a John Lewis Christmas advert; Allen's version reached number-one in the UK Singles Chart. This arrangement for concert band combines elements of both versions, with prominent use of Cor Anglais. Richard Hughes, Keane's drummer and one of the song's writers, offered the following explanation of the song: "We've been asked whether 'Somewhere Only We Know' is about a specific place, and Tim [Rice-Oxley] has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message...Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..." - this ambiguity makes it a great piece for all sorts of events and as one of the best ballads from the first years of the 21st century, sure to be enjoyed by audiences and players alike, across the generations.

Yana is one of the creative leads of One Over None, a newer band looking for a label (and maybe even we have found one... we'll see...), that does all original music while using some fun cover songs for now to get people ready for the original music.

One Over None's member live all over the USA at the moment - which is problematic at the moment due to the rise of Nazi Fascism in the form of M*A*G*A.  Freedom is not voted for and liars are to be stopped.

Yana's stage and online name comes from a weird history of gaming and making music.  It actually comes from the sister of an X-man.   Yana has been playing guitar since she was 15 and singing since she was 10.  Her mom got her into music and comics when she was young and it's all she's ever loved doing.  Weekends in high school were spent playing guitar in her room and annoying her parents who thought a guitar was a better idea than a drum set.

Her first band was with her best friend and called 16th Runaway. They made a very basic original album and it was called Storm.  All 3 people who heard it liked it - but since they were all parents - it's a pretty good bet they were biased.

Since then Yana has been in several bands including a band that did an East Coast Tour.  She was in several popular Burlington Vermont bands, and even did a stint in a progressive band in Los Angeles.

Now with Topaz they have formed "One Over None" and found really great people from all over the country who just love the kind of music that they do.
