Casa Sofia — A live East-West fusion of philosophy and music.

This live performance explores the rational spirit of Eastern music inspired by Al-Farabi, and the emotional depth of Western opera through Vincenzo Bellini. A meeting point where philosophy, spirituality, and human imperfection converge in sound.

هل يمكن أن تلتقي الموسيقى العقلانية التي آمن بها الفلاسفة، مع الموسيقى العاطفية التي صاغها فنانو الأوبرا؟

من هنا وُلد مشروع كازا صوفيا، موسيقى بيت الحكمة، كدراسة موسيقية مقارنة بين عبقرية أبو نصر الفارابي في الموسيقى العقلانية الشرقية، وفينشينزو بيلليني في الأوبرا الإيطالية، وبين العقل والعاطفة في صوتهما المتباين والمتكامل.

وُلدت الفكرة من مصادفة كونية جميلة: لقد ولدت في قلب طرابلس، المدينة التي حملت في ذاكرتها أثر الحكم الإيطالي، وعشت سنوات تكويني الفكري داخل منزل إيطالي قديم، على شارع يحمل اسم بيلليني، وخلف هذا المنزل شارع آخر يحمل اسم الفارابي.

البحث الذي يستند إليه هذا العمل يستكشف كيف يرى الفارابي والفلاسفة الموسيقى كفن عقلاني، وكيف تتجسد عند بيلليني والفنانين الغربيين كمزيج بين العقل والعاطفة.

لكن بالنسبة لي، لم يكن هذا مجرد بحث أكاديمي، بل رحلة شخصية إنسانية أبحث فيها عن معنى الفن بين الفلسفة والعاطفة، بين الكمال والنقص، بين البصمة الإنسانية والصدق العفوي للحظة.

النتيجة هي موسيقى تحاول أن تكون جسرًا بين عالمين، تُعزف مباشرة بلا أي تدخل تقني، لتحافظ على البصمة الإنسانية وصدق التجربة الحية.

اخترت أن اكتب الاسم (Sofia) لا على شكل (Sophia) باليونانية التقليدية، بل بهذه الصيغة التي تجمع بين الحكمة (Sophia) والتصوف (Sufi) في امتداد روحي وفلسفي واحد.

فكما يحيط بي في مدينتي طرابلس، أسماء لامعة مثل: الغزالي، والفارابي، والكندي، وأبن سينا، وابن رشد، والمعري، وعبد الرحمن البوصيري، وأحمد البهلول... حيث يلتقي الفيلسوف بالمتصوّف، والعقل بالعاطفة.

وهكذا يصبح الاسم أكثر من مجرد "بيت للحكمة"، بل بيتاً للتجربة الإنسانية، بكل ما فيها من عقد ونقص وفن وجمال.

Casa Sofia (House of Wisdom) — A Musical Project.

Casa Sofia is a comparative musical project that explores the dialogue between rational music in the Eastern tradition, represented by Abu Nasr Al-Farabi, and the emotional music of the Western tradition, embodied in Vincenzo Bellini’s Italian opera.

The idea was born from a beautiful cosmic coincidence: I was born in the heart of Tripoli, a city that still carries the memory of Italian presence. I grew up in an old Italian house on a street named after Bellini, while just behind it lay another street named after Al-Farabi.

This project is inspired by that intersection — between philosophy and art, intellect and emotion, East and West. The music is performed live, with no editing, preserving the human imprint and the authenticity of the moment.

I chose to write the name Sofia not in its conventional Greek form Sophia, but in a way that bridges Sophia (wisdom) with Sufi (mysticism) — a spiritual and philosophical continuum.

As in my own city of Tripoli, I am surrounded by names such as Al-Ghazali, Al-Farabi, Al-Kindi, Avicenna, Averroes, Al-Ma‘arri, Al-Busiri, and Ahmad Al-Bahloul, where philosopher meets mystic, and intellect meets emotion.

Thus, Casa Sofia becomes more than just a “House of Wisdom”: it is a house of the human experience itself — with all its complexity, imperfection, and beauty.

I am alzmbcka, a classical and electric guitarist, pianist and a student in the Department of Music - Faculty of Arts - Tripoli, Libya.
