Soul In Motion Records welcomes back Jonny L, a name etched deep into the foundations of Drum & Bass and still pushing things forward on his own terms. Having opened the label’s catalogue with SIM001 alongside Need For Mirrors, this latest chapter lands as his first full solo EP on the imprint, making SIM045 a significant link between where the label began and where it’s heading.

‘Politix' E’ arrives with that unmistakable Jonny L signature. It’s stripped, weighty and unfiltered, built on tension and space rather than excess. Across four cuts, he leans into a sound that feels both grounded in the roots and wired for the future, keeping things minimal while letting every element hit with intent.

The title track ‘Politix’ leads from the front, a hardstep-leaning roller driven by raw attitude and no-nonsense drum work. ‘Burnt Out’ follows with serious low-end pressure, all heat and density, landing as the EP’s sampler and setting the tone early. ‘Area 51’ twists things further, stepping into murky territory with warped textures and off-kilter movement, while ‘Everfree’ closes on a more reflective note, pulling things back into a slower, more melodic space without losing that edge.

It’s a release that doesn’t shout for attention but commands it all the same. A clear statement from an artist who’s never followed trends, only shaped them. With heavyweight support already rolling in from Grooverider, Jumping Jack Frost, Doc Scott, Flight, Klute, Double O, J:Kenzo, Need For Mirrors, Lynx and more, ‘Politix 'EP lands as another strong chapter in both Jonny L’s catalogue and the ongoing Soul In Motion story.
