Søvn er åpenbaring. Der er vi fullstendig oss selv, i ett med verden. 

Vi forbruker og brenner opp oss selv slik vi forbruker og brenner opp verden. Hva om menneskene lar hvile og søvn danne grunnlag for livet. Hva om søvnen er vår egentlige væren, vår redning?

Lydverket består av forvrengte orgelklanger, bibelske fragmenter (Lukas 8:22-24 og Matteus 8:23-27)og Tom Holmberg som synger Byssan lull - vuggesangen som Tom sang for sin datter Liv Kristin hver kveld da hun var liten.

Søvnens Liturgi

"dobranoc" is a soundwork that was part of the exhibtion post ost art in october and november in Berlin at 101projectspace and hase29 in Osnabrück in 2025. In this soundwork recordings from 1994-2006 (germany and poland) and 2023 (poland) are arranged to an ambient soundscape about postmigrant identity, family relations and the postgenerational trauma of trying to be safe all the time.

The title is ‘dobranoc’ - which means good night in polish and is for me since my childhood a way of telling someone goodbye. It was used as a joke in my family because I somehow liked this word so much, but since I’m still using this word today for saying goodbye I realized what using this term means for me. Sleeping well is the most intimate and vulnerable thing. And at home you always sleep better. But where and what is home? In this sound piece I work with the voices from many family members who sadly aren’t in my life anymore.

Paysage en chartreuse à la fin de l’hiver. D’infimes décalages du son, superpositions et mouvements en troublent sa perception. Quelques sinusoïdales qui traversent discrètement le paysage comme le trait fin d’un crayon.  Sous hypnose,  ma voix décrivant une situation.  Du silence.
Sur une branche des feuilles séchées frémissent avec le vent et produisent une vibration. La sonorité des pas sur un chemin. Les chants d’oiseaux. L’incidence de la lumière sur l’apparition et la disparition des sons de la forêt

Des pierres qui roulent… Un sifflement.

Monique Mead is a violinist, educator, sound healing practitioner and entrepreneur dedicated to exploring the intersection of music and well-being. As Director of Music Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University, she has guided students in launching impactful community wellness programs, such as Azure Pittsburgh, Lullaby Project Pittsburgh, and Scottie Sound Bath. In 2021, she founded a sound healing studio in partnership with the Awareness & Wellness Center, helping clients access deep relaxation and healing through music. Monique’s work also includes leading the Rancho La Puerta Chamber Music Festival and, in 2019, performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto 50 times in 250 days for communities facing adversity. Her ongoing mission is to expand the role of music in promoting mental health and well-being, both through direct practice and by mentoring others in sound therapy.

Bertrand Gauguet plays the alto & barytone saxophones in solo or collective contexts of improvisation of new music. He is also a composer of electronic music and has produced many original plays and soundtracks for dance, cinema and radio. He was awarded the Villa Kujoyama in Kyôto in 2011.
