THE INFINITY DOME, or natural sensitivity to living sound….

Junco hyemalis, commonly known as the Dark-eyed junco (this is the OREGON variety), is a small bird species found throughout North America and the Pacific Northwest. They are known for making a variety of sounds, including the clicks recorded here, which are a form of communication or what I think of as spatial counter-singing. These short, sharp, metallic sounds are often used in territorial interactions between species, and accented visually by their black heads and dull white beaks. The clicks are produced by the bird's bill, which snaps shut rapidly, creating the clicking sound. In addition to these clicks, dark-eyed juncos also make a range of other sounds, including Chipping sparrow-like trills (common, any time of day in summer), whistles, and songs, used for a variety of purposes, such as attracting mates and warnings of danger.

Musically, what I find especially interesting about these percussive clicks—￼rough complex consonant in contrast to smooth simple vowel—is how incredibly sensitive our ears are to the precise amplitude and spatial location of the sound. We have in our own musical compositions, I think, just barely scratched the surface of turning this sensitivity into the pay-dirt of￼ organized, organic, rhythmic musical￼ movement￼￼. I have always dreamed of a small, geodesic dome, maybe eight or nine meters in diameter, entirely black on the inside, with a simple Doug-fir floor radiating out like spokes from the central hub of a wheel, on which we lay back on soft black cushions, sipping wine perhaps, and listening to thousands of micro speakers flashing similar sounds—either independently or collectively in firefly-like synchrony. Imagine that!

Note that in the recording it begins to rain slightly, and quite remarkably—it took my breath away—the passing rumble of a jetliner overhead causes our Junco Duo to pause. Now that is sensitivity to living sound!

IMAGE: A masterpiece of composite German / American design, the brass bell of a classic BACH trumpet. Much could be said about the flare of the bell and the geometrical flares of timespace featured in the music, but I’ll leave that for a layer date. I sold the last three I owned in 1978—a set of B-flat, C & D instruments—in an unfortunate moment of deep financial chaos in SISTERS, OREGON. I hope somewhere in the world their signature, free, resonant sound is still blessing the Universe.

Hola soy Luis Fuentes de Santiago de Chile, escucho todo tipo de música incluyendo por supuesto la música electrónica, mis grandes referentes son Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Robert Miles, la música del videojuego Donkey Kong Country y como no mencionar al gran Armin Van Buuren, no soy un productor profesional, soy un aficionado pero he estudiado mucho sobre teoría musical, intervalos, acordes, escalas, armonía, modos griegos, etc, aun me falta mucho por aprender pero quiero dar lo mejor de mi en cada pista, para producir utilizo FL Studio y un PC con CPU Intel Xeon E5 2689 (8 Nucleos / 16 Hilos) y 16 GB de RAM, quiero agradecer a todo aquel que se toma del tiempo de escuchar mis pistas y aprecia mi trabajo, no se en que estilo encaja la música que hago pero intento crear música oscura y futurista
