The concept for this piece was at first an exploration of the 4DSOUND engine and the capabilities of the powerful MONOM speaker setup. The idea started as an assignment on how to imagine otherworldly natural soundscapes, aiming to invent an environment that transported the listener to a different reality. 

The tools available within 4DSOUND are extensive and inspiring for spatial sound applications. This piece was a first attempt to delve into the functionality of the software, using MONOM’s speaker layout specially designed for its application, consisting in 48 omnidirectional speakers and 9 subwoofers. The result is a piece that uses directionality and height as narrative elements, unraveling sounds that evoke sentient life and movement, as the listener feels himself transported through a journey that culminates in a contemplative and solemn open space. 

This piece was developed in the context of my 2024 internship at MONOM (https://www.monomsound.com).

Purple Aether (Binaural Sound, use headphones), sound installation for MONOM Berlin

I had the honor and pleasure of recording the artists' live performance using a four-channel process. The recording in Soundcloude is binaural, so it's perfect to listen to with headphones.

The different experimental musical methods of the two artists are a treat for the ears. Tom Simonetti made the gas boiler itself sound. He used Dadamachines - actuators controlled by MIDI signals that percussively worked the metal at various points on the gas boiler. The echo caused by the beats was an integral part of the musical event. 

Sascha Stadlmeier aka EMERGE supplemented the percussive sounds with flat sounds that were created by electronically processing noise recordings from the gas tank. The resulting sounds and noises interacted with the enormous echo of the boiler interior and formed a successful symbiosis. 

The interior of the boiler is over 80 meters high and measures 45 meters in diameter.

Sound Installation In An Old Gasworks In Augsburg (BINAURAL- Use Headphones))

"Recyclophonitecture" is an ambitious exploration of spatial sound that aims to push the boundaries of modern composition. At its core, the composition revolves around the concept of recycling melodies, where themes are deconstructed and reassembled throughout the piece, creating a continuous evolution of sound.

The work begins with a classical string quartet, only to transform into a fully realized electronic orchestra. This transition highlights an innovative approach to blending acoustic and digital elements, merging traditional instrumentation with futuristic electronic textures.

Thematically, "Recyclophonitecture" delves into the idea of visualizing space through sound creating a sound architecture. The use of layered soundscapes allows the listener to experience a three-dimensional sense of space, with each note building an auditory architecture that expands and contracts in real time. This fusion of music and spatial design offers a unique listening experience, emphasizing the dynamic relationship between sound, time, and perception.

Ultimately, the piece serves as a compelling statement on how sound can shape our experience of space, offering a fresh perspective on both musical structure and sensory engagement.

I've seen a thousand smiles bloom

The moon knows what I know:
How your joy curves like her crescent,
How it waxes full and bright
In these blue-shadow hours.

No photograph could capture this—
The way starlight seems to gather

Peripheries (2024): Was a site-specific, multichannel sound installation at Marshgate, UCL East, the work invited listeners to deepen their presence in the everyday environment through enlivening perceptions and enhancing awareness.

 Featuring a minimalist polyphonic choral composition drawing influence from venetian choral music, cori spezzati, (broken choruses) voices called across the vast atrium space, with solo voices serving as coordinates to define the reverberant open space. 

Interwoven within the composition were field recordings taken from the building itself. Lysergic and eerie, these processed recordings played with psychoacoustic perception and liminal listening perspectives, enlivening listeners to the sound and space around them. 

A unique array of 16 speakers arranged across 6 floors of the building, transformed the architectural space into a resonating body, encouraging an embodied exploration of the space to create a dynamic composition and evolving listening experience from multiple perspectives. 

Peripheries was originally created for 16 speakers installed at Marshgate UCL East. The 16-channels have been mixed as 3rd-order ambisonics and subsequently decoded to binaural for this edit. I woke to thunder, but not the usual storm echo. It resonated between syncopated, asymmetrical rhythms, vibrating like something alive—an impulse I could see, feel, and hear to my core. It pulled me from my ordinary life into a labyrinth where walls, air, and time pulsed with sound and color. Every crack and vibration felt like music I could breathe, whispering of dimensions between levels four and five.

My last memory was sitting at my studio desk, headphones on, lost in a melodic dubstep experiment. Bass waves and intricate rhythms had swallowed me whole. Then, the music became tangible, dragging me into this hidden reality—Level 4,444. Here, each step created resonances I could almost touch.

Sounds unraveled with every move, whispers blending into chaotic rhythms. A voice boomed:
"To escape the Rhythmic Level 4,444 Labyrinth, you must master its rhythm, or remain here forever."

My heart raced, but as chaos unfolded, familiar sounds emerged. Cautiously, I raised my hands. The labyrinth responded—a clap sent shockwaves through the walls, a finger snap transformed into a snare. Energized, I began carving patterns out of the wild cacophony, step by step forging a path forward.

Each corridor tested me. One stretched infinitely, the bass pulling me into its pulse. Another plummeted into darkness, where polyrhythmic dissonance forced me to uncover hidden accents. As I ventured deeper, I realized this labyrinth mirrored my creative struggles—a reflection of my inner artistic flow.

Eventually, I reached the Echo Chamber, the labyrinth’s core. Sound collided endlessly, amplifying into a deafening storm. A single clap unleashed a torrent of beats, battering me from all sides. Instead of panicking, I closed my eyes and focused. Beneath the chaos, I found a buried rhythm, harmonizing with the noise until it resolved into perfect unity. A single pure tone lingered as the labyrinth shuddered.

"You have mastered the rhythm. The path to freedom is open," the voice declared.

A glowing doorway of light appeared. I stepped through, and the noise melted into silence.

I woke abruptly at my desk, drenched in sweat, headphones draped around my neck. The DAW on my screen played my latest track. It wasn’t just music—it was a journey, a reflection of venturing into Tallinn’s underground soundscapes, filtered through raw creativity.

I titled the project:
"Trapped between the Labyrinth of Rhythmic Level 4,444 Dimensions."

A sonic drift through spectral landscapes, I Pity the Garden—Music Excerpts captures fragments of a world emptied of human presence, where only echoes and remnants remain. Originally composed for the immersive VR experience at the Georgian Pavilion, 59th Venice Biennale, this unofficial album is a reimagined version of the soundscape, reshaped from the original samples created for VR glasses.

Built from decayed loops, reworked samples, and field recordings distorted beyond recognition, the music unfolds as a single, evolving piece. Every sound originates from something that once existed but no longer remains as it was. What begins as scattered sonic debris—fading melodies, stretched-out tones, and organic murmurs—gradually fuses into a 20-minute composition that mirrors the journey through the virtual ghost garden.

These excerpts distill the essence of a place where nature and artifice collapse into one: the murmur of a world fading, regenerating, and dissolving again.
