Broadcasting from the basement of the Students' Union Building at the University of Alberta located on Treaty 6 land, CJSR operates as a non-profit society and registered charity. 

Our mission is to “enlighten and entertain our audience through high quality and diverse programming that constantly challenges the status quo”. We do this by amplifying voices and perspectives often underrepresented in mainstream media. We provide a safe and inclusive (and fun!) environment for folks to learn the ins and outs of audio production, as well as educate listeners on local issues and stories.

Aufgewachsen in Stuttgart, erlebte Micha eine ausgewogene musikalische Ernährung mit Klassik zum Frühstück, Rock zu Mittag und Dance zum Abendessen. Die Klänge und Melodien werden liebevoll von Hand verarbeitet und zubereitet, ohne den aktuellen Trends zu folgen. Von der Natur und Landschaften inspiriert, drückt die Musik ein Gefühl aus- ein Spaziergang im Wald, der Grand Canyon..er nimmt uns mit und erzählt uns musikalisch eine kleine Geschichte... enjoy the Musik!

Silent Stars:
Planned as a limited-release art project on vinyl LP and years in the making, the global lock-down of many states due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus (Coronavirus) inspired us to release some recordings now and in digital form. With millions of people staying at their homes for multiple weeks Silent Stars is a creative way to overcome social distancing. 

Silent Stars takes you back into a time of calm settling security. As the saying goes: “With a true friend, there’s no need to talk.” This audio-art project presents 36 minutes genuine silence in the presence of well-known public figures. Occasional sounds of a news paper being folded over, a door being opened or shut, the rippling of tea or coffee being poured. Those subtle sounds build a narrative basis onto which the listener projects their own memories of that person—and unavoidably blends in the sounds of their own presence, forming an unprecedented form of togetherness.
