First out of two of Ly Sander's 'Landing' album samplers, this package presents two tracks both serviced with a dedicated remix that offer a deep yet often unheard insight into what dance music can mean.  

'Our Spirit Runs Deep' is an invitation to consider dance music as something more than simply disposable. Maybe there can be some deep feelings to it, a shared and communal experience, as long as you 'walk along with us'!

Twins contains vocal samples from a traditional Baganda chant dedicated to twins. The Baganda are the main ethnic group out of Uganda. Their somewhat hypnotic chants matched well with a slomo house vibe made dreamy by the use of rich synth strings. The introduction of a rhythmic bassline offers a welcome sense of speed to the whole.

Windy Plains was the very first track produced for this album and according to Ly Sander probably the most characteristic one. It is built around the very specific double bass played by founder of the Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp’s own Vincent Bertholet. An early version of the album contained almost solely tracks stemming out of this collaboration. The current version is a mix with solely Windy Plains, Transcontinental Hippies and Our Spirit Runs Deep left. Nevertheless, the ultimate strength of Vincent Bertholet resides in his ability to build very unique atmospheres on the fly. Yep, all three tracks were recorded out of improvisation in the same session. A swiss invented percussive instrument completes the atmosphere, the hang!

For Love over Entropy, music is all about ideas. Experimenting with different workflows and taking influences from a wide range of artists, he eschews formulas and tries to infuse every track with a life of its own. As a result, ever since the first release in 2013, his music is primarily shaped by his own musical fascinations instead of genre conventions. Crucial to his tracks is a sense of internal logic and flow, that also extends into his live sets.

At an abstract level, Love over Entropy's music draws inspiration from the Ligne Claire aesthetic. This is a style of drawing made famous by Belgian cartoonist Hergé in the 1930s, but which goes back even further, to Japanese woodblock cuts from the 17th century. Very much like those woodblock cuts, Love over Entropy's music is precise yet organic. To the point yet rich. Abstract yet familiar.

Love Over Entropy wished to name this EP 'Pleioné'. In Greek mythology, Pleioné was an Oceanid nymph and mother of the Pleiades. Pleioné presided over the multiplication of the flocks. This title thus seems utterly fitting, since the music seems to keep on coming and going, the same yet different, repeated yet with sounds adding to each other in waves. The whole gives a sense of being so subtle and deep that the mind gets to float freely in an boundless ocean of sounds.

No Loss is a sort of trance prayer, in which feelings of acceptance, change and hope are added to the psychedelic imagery evoked by the music with the help of vocals.

Music and Psychedelia become tools capable of deepening and investigating the deepest aspects of life and then re-emerging with a new gaze, both on the world and within oneself.

We've been honored to welcome Sordid Sound System's own Stuart Evans to rework 'No Loss'. Stellar producer with releases on labels such as Optimo Music, Hoga Nord, Invisible Inc or Playground Records, he infused his trademark sound collisions of motorik dub and psychedelic dungeon disco.
