Looking back at 28 years of producing Extreme Techno and Speedcore (Nano-Mix)

Hi ya,
It's me, Low Entropy.

I wrote a lot about other labels and artists, for different zines or self-published e-books.
But I rarely talk about myself!

So I will talk a bit about my own music this time.

I was part of the "original speedcore" scene in the 90s. "I was there" when bpms were raised above 400, 500, or even 1000 bpm, and I even helped to raise them!
One of my first "underground hits" was a straight 800 bpm track, released in 1998 on a lux nigra vinyl, alongside other artists like Christoph de Babalon or Paul Snowden.

It sometimes took time until my tracks reached vinyl, so a lot of the tracks that labels released in the year 2000 or on were actually productions I did in the 90s already. But even before the EPs and albums, my music circulated on the internet, on dub plates - and at parties, of course!

My speedcore activism got me booked at places like Tresor in Berlin, or the F**kparade party (yup, the one where the "Technoviking" video was made - I don't think my music is in that vid, though).

But then I moved on and dived into acid, doomcore, more "danceable" techno...

And scored some hits again, but this is another story!

I always stayed attached to the Speedcore scene and produced in that style now and then.
And to my surprise, while it was very hard at first to push my doomcore or techno sound "to the crowds", whenever I do speedcore stuff, it seems the sound almost spreads by itself and reaches the fans... (and I would like to thank them this way!).

I started producing at age 16, in 1997.
The early tracks were still done on an MS-DOS program called Impulse Tracker. It played back samples at various speeds and in various sequences (that's what trackers do!), but there were no built-in FX like reverb, delay, chorus, EQ... I had to use other apps like Soundforge, Reaktor, or Cool Edit Pro for that.

The project files had to be less than 1.44 MB in size because I saved them on floppydisk. When I wanted to create a demo-tape to send to a label (in an international parcel - because the hardcore scene was worldwide), i needed to ride the train across the city to "record" the projects from the diskettes via my brothers cassette tape deck. Before I finally could afford my own.

Later I leveled up to different programs and tech, of course.

Sooo... this is kind of a look back at all the Speedcore noise I produced in nearly 3 decades.

Explanation: 

               ☠ The Omega Baryon ☠

What it is:

The Omega Baryon is a type of hadron (a heavy sub atomic particle) made of three quarks. 

Quark Composition:

The most common and well-known example, the Ω−, is composed of three strange quarks. 

What it is NOT:

It's not an atom. Atoms are far larger structures made of a nucleus (containing proton's and neutrons) and surrounding electrons. The Omega Baryon is a component within the sub atomic world that makes up atoms. 

Why "Baryon":

The name "baryon" comes from the Greek word for "heavy," and these particles were historically considered "heavy" compared to other elementary particles. 

The Omega Baryon's Significance

Heavy Particle:

The Ω− baryon has a significant mass (about 1672 MeV/c²) and is one of the heavylist known baryon's. 

Study of Quarks:

Its simple composition of three strange quarks makes it a valuable particle for studying the behavior and internal structure of baryon's. 

Family of Particles:

Other Omega Baryon's exist, such as the charmed omega (Ωc) and bottom omega (Ωb), which incorporate other, heavier types of quarks.

In the past, I've also organized parties for groups ranging from just under 50 people to 1,000. I really enjoyed doing that. I did it more for the fun of it than for profit. As long as I broke even, I was fine with it. 

With two friends at the time, we organised this under the name T.B.S. Events, which I came up with. 

After 3 years of organizing parties, T.B.S. Events has closed down!

In the future, I'd also like to organize parties. I still need one or two partners who would like to organize this with me. 

For a very long time, I focused on industrial hardcore. I made some good tracks, but it just wasn't quite right. Starting this January 2025, I've been focusing on Hardcore, Frenchcore,  Terror and Speedcore All with the Underground sound! These are the genres I'll stick with. 

I'm currently working on a few killer track's under the name:

...born 1980 in Hamburg, Germany. in 1996 i discovered the world of hard electronic music...
 and immediately fell in love with it... i never heard music with that extreme energy and passion behind it before...
 in 1997 i decided to create music myself... my style back then was mostly experimental hardcore, breakcore and speedcore...
 in 2000 i had my first release then, my 12" on Blut recordings.
 later that year, Betty Bombshell and me started a show on the terrestrial radio station "FSK" in Hamburg.
 the idea of the show was to broadcast music from the experimental and hard music scenes to an audience that might have not much contact with that kind of sound before. Betty left the show in 2001. 

 there was still a need for that kind of thing in Hamburg; Sampler19 and me teamed up, and we created the "Hamburg Hardcore Radio" show.
 apart from playing old and new records and tracks from the hard scenes on air, we also did many all-night shows, featuring a lot of guest DJs. later, The Man Unknown and DJ Escada joined us, and we started a crew that did the radio shows together.

 in 2002 a 12" by me was released on Praxis, i was very happy about this release, but i do not want to hype myself here, so i won't say too much.
 later that year my 12" on Black Monolith came out, which was again a bit different than my earlier releases, because it was an Hardacid/Acidcore EP.
 2002 was also the year when me and Sampler19 started the "All-Out Demolition!" parties in Hamburg. later, DJ Escada and The Man Unknown joined our crew there, too.
 the idea of All-Out Demolition! was to create a party series for the extreme, interesting and experimental types of Hardcore and Breakcore - parties for that type of sound only happened very rarely in Hamburg back then.
 in 2003, an album by me was released on Widerstand records. but again, i do not want to hype myself too much. the sound was in the various "styles" i produced in so far... breakcore, noize, ambient...

today the styles of the music i produce include breakcore, acidcore, doomcore and dark ambient.
