Written at the piano during her late teens, Kimberley's debut release 'Feel Alright / How It Feels' is a Jazz exploration of love and emotional conflict, inspired by the voices of Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald. Blending soulful melodies with shifting grooves, the track moves from raw vulnerability to a bold Latin-inspired outro, creating space for improvisation and expression. Developed with her band over the past two years, it’s a powerful blend of classic jazz feel and contemporary soul.

What are the living sonic expressions inherited from our ancestors?

The soundscape hopefully evokes my imaginative journey in trying to respond to this question, taking the original field recording itself as a point of departure. My idea has been to dissolve boundaries, to express the movement of waves and to allow for the invisible radiophonic liquidity that we are all part of to emerge; it seems to me that both through tangible and intangible waters, all our different islands might be connected, and perhaps that currents of our heritage are always travelling to shores much further than we think.

Trailer Park Quarterly is an online zine that “envisions itself as a place for real writing, something that an actual human being might want to read.” The project’s editors, Rebecca Schumejda and Daniel Crocker, began in the small press world in the 90s and have published poets work since in both digital and paper formats. 

On July 16, 2019, Daniel was one of the featured poets at the 1 year anniversary celebration of the Brass Tacks poetry reading series at The Low Beat in Albany.

Daniel Crocker is a Missouri-based poet, editor, and educator whose work has appeared in over 100 publications, including The Los Angeles Review and The Chiron Review. He is the author of numerous poetry collections and chapbooks, including Leadwood: New and Selected Poems, and was the first winner of the Gerald Locklin Prize. Crocker also edits The Cape Rock, co-edits Trailer Park Quarterly, and hosts the podcast Sanesplaining, exploring poetry, mental illness, and pop culture.
