Executive Director Justice Castaneda discusses their work to prevent violence and decrease health inequities in the Madison Metropolitan area via housing for low-income people, violence prevention, financial education in Madison schools, assisting in business incubators to stabilize the community, and more.

One of the most consistent warnings in the New Testament is to guard against offense.
We often think of an offense as something that hurts our feelings, but in reality, it’s something far more dangerous. An offense is anything that causes us to stumble or lose our footing in the faith. That’s why the Apostle Paul urges us to “gird our feet with the Gospel of Peace.”
In the ancient world, maintaining your footing was essential to surviving any battle. The same is true today in the spiritual battles we face. If we stumble at the word of God, we will fall!
Over the years, I’ve been asked this question by pastors and leaders around the world: “Why are people so easily offended?”
Even after more than half a century of active ministry, I remain amazed at how easily believers fall into offense, not just with one another, but even with God. And while it might seem like a mystery, the answer is simple: most 21st-century believers lack a deep foundation in the New Covenant. Many don’t fully understand what Jesus accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection. All this is because we don’t know how to understand the Scripture!
Yet God has given us everything we need. Through His Word, He provides explicit instruction. The Holy Spirit is our internal teacher. He brings us to a place of understanding and guides us step-by-step until we reach victory and safety!

18. Stable Secure and Immovable

Astrid, herself, described the focus of this class as creating space and control in the hips, pelvis and thoracic spine to enhance stability, mobility, and core connection. Astrid guided us beautifully with great clarity, an  emphasis of both exploration and self sensing at an easy to follow, slow pace. She basically had us explore four movements of the pelvis and lower extremity. Astrid built each movement sequence carefully starting with a basic movement and then guiding us to notice different aspects in the way we were using our body. She often added an additional aspect to the movement such as an oppositional rotation in the upper body with a focus on the thoracic spine. Sometimes she cued us to notice where our stability was coming from, sometimes she cued us to notice our breath or if we were adding an unconscious rotational or lateral flexion aspect. She helped us differentiate between rotating the head of the femur in the hip socket versus  rotating the hip socket around the head of the femur. It was a wonderful class with lots of learning. This lecture discusses key ideas from the ancient philosopher and statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero's work, On The Nature Of The Gods, which critically examines Epicurean, Stoic, and Skeptic perspectives on matters of theology and cosmology

Specifically it focuses upon the presentation of Stoic cosmology and theology by Quintus Lucilius Balbus in book 2, and in particular on his discussion of the stability and coherence of the world itself and of the larger cosmos. These features are used by Balbus to argue for the existence of some intelligent, providentially ordering divine being. He also discusses a controversial Stoic doctrine, that of the universal conflagration, in which the matter of the world is gradually converted into aether or fire, and then the world is recreated by the divine being.
