PUMPKINHEAD — A Southern Gothic Trap Album

Stan Winston's 1988 film rebuilt as a 23-track Southern Gothic Trap concept album. Every track is one voice — Ed Harley, Steve, Haggis, the demon itself.

Dirty slide guitar and banjo over 808s. Swamp and mountain at the same time. Hellfire under everything. The sound of a deal that was always going to go wrong being made anyway by a man who loved his son.

This is not a horror album. It's an album about what grief does when you take it to the wrong hill. Ed Harley is not a villain. He's a father who buried his boy and got up in the dark and went somewhere his father told him never to go. He understood the price. He paid it anyway. The price runs both directions. That's the whole story.

Haggis gets four tracks — ancient Appalachian fiddle, dry banjo, barely any trap. The oldest sound on the album. She warned him. She makes the deal anyway. She always makes the deal. The mountain makes the grief. The hill makes the answer. She is the answer. She'll be on that hill when every county in these mountains has a different name.

Pumpkinhead gets two tracks — full Southern Gothic orchestral, hellfire brass, war drum 808s. The demon doesn't run. It walks. It doesn't have to hurry. It already knows where they're going.

Ends in the pumpkin field where Billy used to play. Ed falls where Billy played. The dirty slide guitar plays one last note. Then wind through the rows. Then silence. The field is still there. Still growing. Haggis is still on the hill. Waiting for the next one.
