467: Wanderstop Review | Blue Prince | AC Shadows

In dieser Folge GameKeeper reden Jan Henryk Walendy, Marc Braun, Bianca Volz und Marvin Clauß über das neuste Spiel vom Entwickler The Chinese Room, welches den Titel "Still Wakes the Deep" trägt. Es wird über den Entwickler, das von diesem quasi begründete Genre der "Walking Simulatoren" und die generellen Trends geredet, welche mit Walking Simulatoren einhergehen.

Außerdem gibt es hier noch dei Erklärung von Jan Henryk, was es mit dem Namen "The Chinese Room" auf sich hat:
"The Chinese Room" ist nach dem gleichnamigen Gedankenexperiment des Philosophen John Searle benannt, das dieser 1980 formulierte, um zu zeigen, warum ein Computer kein echtes Verständnis, keinen Verstand und kein Bewusstsein haben kann.

Das Gedankenexperiment geht davon aus, dass ein Computerprogramm sich so verhalten kann, als würde es Chinesisch verstehen. Die Maschine erhält chinesische Schriftzeichen als Eingabe, folgt Schritt für Schritt den Instruktionen ihres Programms und gibt wiederum chinesische Schriftzeichen als Ausgabe zurück.

Sie erledigt dies so perfekt, dass sie den Turing-Test besteht: Niemand könnte unterscheiden, ob die Antworten von einem Menschen oder einer Maschine stammen. Doch bleibt die entscheidende Frage: Versteht die Maschine die Konversation tatsächlich, oder simuliert sie nur Verständnis?

Um das zu verdeutlichen, versetzt sich Searle selbst in den sogenannten "chinesischen Raum". Er sitzt darin mit einer englischsprachigen Anleitung, ausreichend Papier, Stiften und Platz, um die Anweisungen manuell auszuführen. Befolgt er diese Instruktionen gewissenhaft, kann er dieselben chinesischen Antworten erzeugen wie der Computer. Ohne jedoch auch nur ein Wort Chinesisch zu verstehen.

Damit zeigt Searle: Auch wenn das Verhalten nach außen hin intelligentes Handeln simuliert, fehlt es sowohl an echtem Verständnis als auch an Intentionalität. Ohne beides, so sein Argument, können wir nicht von „Denken“ sprechen und somit besitzt der Computer keinen „Verstand“.
