And 2024 had 169 pedestrian fatalities reported. These past few years represent the highest number of pedestrian deaths Los Angeles has seen in more than a decade.

Advocates for safer streets are calling for more urgent action, including better lighting, stricter traffic enforcement, and expanded use of pedestrian-friendly design elements like protected crosswalks and lower speed limits in high-risk areas.
