Transmissions 500 with Steve Lawler

This is a mix I managed to extract from one remaining copy of a cd I still had. This CD was in pretty rough shape, and the process to get it onto this soundcloud page was more taxing then I realized it was going to be. In the end, my will to preserve the mix proved greater than the obstacles to doing so, so here it is.  The first track on the mix is plagued by some staticy-ticks that lose intensity as we get into the first breakdown of that first track. If you can bear with that, its ok from there.

If you asked me then who "influenced this mix," I would have dropped some pretty predictable Global Underground names. But, the truth is, my biggest influences were those closest to me. Damian, Rojas, Dao, Omar, Peter, the Whites , Josh, Bob, Arthur, Hypatia, Bryon, Chris...all these local djs who watered our local Reading soil over the last 20 plus years. I have enjoyed the journey immensely...here is a mix from the beginning.

This was put together sometime in 2000 on two tech 12's and a Pioneer DJM500.

Every month I have a residency at "Bernadette" In Lille - France
For this last House mix of the year I decided to play Only tracks from 2024, so it is a kind of my favorute tracks of the year.
This is the last part of the 4h long set, from midnight, till the end. A this point the audience was on the dancefloor dancing and bouncing, even on tables... It was really a cool night ! Muiscally i played mainly between Jackin House, Tech House and Deep Tech.

Bio? This is where I'm supposed to tell you about my world wide gigs and A list collaborations. To me, music has always been about the music and not myself. The dj is the conduit to bring or enhance that musical experience to you. For me it's always been about my passion for music and the way it makes us all feel. I have a simple philosophy that I love music and enjoy mixing and producing tunes and hope people enjoy them too. That's it!
 
Okay, guess I need to give you a little background.... Grew up in Chicago in the early 70's and 80's and was in the right place at the right time to see the birth of house music by some of Chicago's best innovators. I personally got started as a dj in the mid 80's and have appeared at multiple venues over the years, as well as featured on multiple radio shows around the world.  My love will always be vinyl and still believe newer dj's should learn the craft the "old fashioned" way however, will admit that I have been slowly moving towards a lot of the newer technology.

Samir Kuliev was born in Baku Azerbaijan in 1979. At the very young age he showed the interest in arts and studied at the Baku School of Choreography. In 1990 when the war broke out in Azerbaijan he and his mother migrated to Krasnodar, Russia where he graduated from Krasnodar Theater Institute and started his career as an actor.

In 2000 Samir moves to Moscow and performs at the different theater venues. During this year Samir was introduced to an incredible word of electronic music and spins his career a different direction. From then on he works as a full-time DJ and organizer of unique parties around the Moscow-city.

In 2007 Samir introduces his own radio show about electronic music titled “Chustvo Ritma” (Sense of Rhythm) on Moscow radio station Megapolis 89.5 FM. In a few years the show gains a popularity and becomes one of the best radio shows about electronic music in Russia and the rest of the former USSR. The most famous artists, musicians and Dj's, such as: Solomun, Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren, GusGus, Hot Since 82, Guy Mantzur, Sahar Z. and many others great persons were presented as a guests at this show.Today, Samir's «Chuvstvo Ritma» one of the most popular radio show in Moscow, being supported by more than 20 radio stations.

In 2014 Samir starts a record label “Chustvo Ritma Rec” (Sense of Rhythm) where he produces his own music and tracks of the talented Russian artists creating music in progressive, deep, techno styles. 

In 2016, the monthly show "Sense of Rhythm" appeared on the Frisky radio station in New York, where Samir plays a variety of electronic music for his listeners around the world.

In 2016, Samir became a participant in the international ADE conference (Amsterdam Dance Event) by playing a special set on the dance floor of Frisky radio along with such artists as Just Her, The Third Son, Wild Dark and others.

In 2018, Samir's track "Running up that hill (Tribute to Kate Bush) was supported by Solomun at the FrameWork Festival in Los Angeles and at Tulum in Mexico. Nowdays Samir is not only a participant in many Russian and foreign festivals such as AFP (Russia) and Episode (Vietnam). He is also the organizer of his own parties in the best Russian clubs such as Gazgolder club (Moscow), Chauteu de Fantomas (Moscow) Heaven (Moscow) and others.

Currently, Samir is full of ideas, dreams, and passion for electronic music and is open for co-operation. He wants to expand the scope of dance culture and believes that electronic music can express the deepest thoughts, emotions, beauty and true human greatness.

It’s all about the music. New York stalwart and beloved DJ, Boris, lives by that statement each and every day. He is a man wearing many hats; one as a touring DJ, another as a producer dynamo and lastly as a label boss of Transmit Recordings. A career forged over decades of long nights in the Big Apple’s most revered rooms. From the infamous Roxy to Crobar to the once dominating Pacha NY on 46th Street, Boris maintained a following so devout, so loyal they were truly ‘Believers’. Pioneering a music movement in a city filled with those who have so little time to pay attention, Boris has been a production powerhouse when not performing for the masses. He’s been tapped by industry leaders such as Carl Cox for his label Intec, Dubfire for his label Sci-Tec, Paco Osuna and his Mindshake records, amongst countless others.

His ability behind the decks and in the studio has not only made him a New York favorite, but his music has taken him places all around the world ranging from the shores of Playa Del Carmen to the magical White Isle known as Ibiza. Known to many as the ‘DJ’s DJ’, Boris has had the career most DJs can only wish to have. The trends, they may change but the New York native has stayed true to his drum driven sounds and created his own niche in the wide and vast world of electronic music. Taking bits and pieces from every part of the globe he visits, Boris always maintains a piece of home in his music. 

Even though his career spans nearly three decades, the journeyman DJ has yet to falter. We currently find him playing leading to destinations across the globe and his music is in high demand with forthcoming releases many sought after labels, Boris will is constantly on the tips of the younger generation’s tongue. Why? Because talent, like wine, gets better with age.
