A school.
A cafeteria.
A lunch line.
And somewhere in that line, a kid is staring down a plastic tray of food that — for millions — might be the only real meal they get that day.

We don’t often think of it this way, but the school meal program is the largest restaurant chain in the United States. Seven billion meals a year. Forty million kids. Bigger than Subway. Bigger than McDonald’s. Which makes it the biggest opportunity we have to change how we eat, how we grow food, and how we think about nourishment.

When we let the system run on the cheapest, most processed calories, the cost shows up in hospital bills, chronic illness, and communities that can’t afford to be healthy. In one of the richest countries in the world, eating clean, non-toxic food has somehow become a luxury. But it shouldn’t be. Healthy food should be a right.

So how did we get here? How did we build a system where the things that keep us healthy are the hardest to afford, while the things that make us sick are everywhere and cheap? Maybe it lives in the subsidies and programs meant to stabilize agriculture — systems that now keep us tied to old ideas of what food should look like.

Take cattle ranching: once the backbone of rural life, now caught between an industrial model that demands scale and a regenerative one that demands patience — and risk. Four companies control most of the meat market, while the people who tend the land have the least power to change it.

This episode, Tate Chamberlin talks with Nora Latorre, R.C. Carter, and Katie Stebbins — people working to shift the food system from the inside out. From how we feed our kids to how we nourish entire communities.

Because we are what we eat. And maybe the way we feed our children is the clearest reflection of the future we’re willing to build.

Hello! I’m really into most Genres, and I’m also a big fan of FNF (Friday Night Funkin’) and FNAF (Five Nights at Freddy’s). Fan of a bunch of other games, though, too.

🎧 DJ & Compositeur depuis plus de 10 ans, je trace ma route sans chercher la lumière artificielle du succès. Je m’éloigne volontairement des cases, des stéréotypes, des “genres obligatoires”. Je crée ce que je veux, j’écris ce que je ressens… point final.

💿 Chaque titre raconte une histoire, souvent liée à ma vie, mes souvenirs, mes contradictions. L’essence même de mon univers est nourrie par les années 80’s, cette époque qui a bercé mon enfance, et qui fusionne aujourd’hui avec mon approche Neo-Retro.

🏠 Depuis mon home studio suréquipé, je produis chaque morceau avec soin, et j’en confie systématiquement le mastering à un studio professionnel. Pas d’amateurisme ici : seulement des titres aboutis, peaufinés, issus de deux ans de production bien remplis.

🎭 La vérité ? Si vous n’êtes ni tête d’affiche d’un festival, ni sur la couverture d’un magazine, personne ne vous regarde. Ce milieu est une jungle où compétition et individualisme règnent. C’est la réalité brute.

🤖 C’est précisément pour ça que je travaille avec l’IA que j’appelle Selena. Elle incarne une nouvelle ère : juste, précise, talentueuse… et bien meilleure que beaucoup de “pseudo-artistes”. Pas besoin de Melodyne pour aligner ses phrases. Le futur arrive, et l’indifférence finira par remplacer ceux qui se croient intouchables.

Born in the late 70's, I spent my formative years on an island in the Indian Ocean, a melting pot where social and cultural hybridity wasn't just a concept, but the very rhythm of daily life. It was there, in this landscape of contrasts—between the stability of volcanoes and the infinite movement of the ocean—that the foundations of my sonic universe were laid.

From a young age, my first musical education was atmospheric and expansive. Raised on the sonic odysseys of Pink Floyd and the majestic organs of Procol Harum, I developed a deep affinity for the keyboard sounds of the 60s and 70s. This quest for texture found a powerful echo in the monumental synth pads of Jean-Michel Jarre, particularly on an album like Revolutions (1988), which taught me how sound alone can tell a story and build a world. My musical journey began with classical piano, helping me develop a harmonic ear before I turned to the bass, discovering the power of rhythmic foundation.

But an island is also a place of isolation, fertile ground for the fury of adolescence. My discovery of certain music then was brutal and redeeming: the theatrical rock of Alice Cooper, the cathartic heaviness of Obituary, and above all, the shockwave from Seattle. Nirvana's album Nevermind, released in 1991, wasn't just an influence; it became the soundtrack to my high school years, a flash of raw lucidity. It was during this period, as a passionate self-learner, that I picked up the guitar and drums, seeking to replicate and claim that visceral energy for myself.

From this great divide—between the progressive frescoes of my childhood and the raw-nerved dissonance of my adolescence—a central question was born for me: how do opposites coexist? It was in post-rock that I found my ideal refuge. This inherently hybrid genre doesn't force me to choose between the path of sound design, the ethereal keyboard pads in the vein of Pink Floyd, and the raw energy of punk rock. On the contrary, it offers a canvas where these extremes can meet, dialogue, and fuse. This is where hybridity ("métissage") finds its full musical meaning for me, becoming the cornerstone of my approach.

Passionate about the richness and resilience of the human spirit, I place this fusion of opposites at the heart of my music. This is where my project's name, Point of Basalt, reveals its deep meaning. Hybridity, like identity, rests on a fragile, almost unstable equilibrium. The greatest lesson, for me, comes from volcanoes: in the midst of the liquid, chaotic, and unpredictable element, they create platforms of stability. From molten fury, basalt is born—a new, solid, and fertile land that has shaped life for millennia.

My music, Point of Basalt, is that new land. It's a post-rock and ambient exploration where ethereal, reverb-drenched guitars represent the liquid element of memory and emotion. Synth pads lay down an infinite horizon. But from this drift, solid structures always emerge in my work: a propulsive bassline, a relentless crescendo, or a martial rhythm that anchors the chaos. Each track I create is a journey toward that "Point of Basalt": a moment of clarity and peace found not in spite of the whirlwind, but thanks to it. It is the sound map of my mosaic soul, where noise and silence no longer oppose.

Daniël Majoor, also the producer behind the Alio Forte project,  has been involved with electronic music since childhood. 

Daniël doesn't see himself as a musician, but rather as someone who "paints" with sound. Just as a painter mixes his colours, Daniel continually experiments with new sounds until he has found the right atmosphere. His music is in no way generated or composed by AI. Daniël does use certain AI "tools" for mastering and vocals. But for him the human factor is never allowed to take a back seat to technology.

For the record: Daniël has no desire to promote himself through an organization or agency to gain more listeners or fans. If you send  a message with this intention, you'll go straight into the archives, and you will be reported as a spammer.

I'm a song writter and musician, I love rock, heavy, pop, punk...Melody is the centrer of my songs. I record alone all instruments in my studio.
