Bass Scoops Radio In Conversation With Pressa - March 2023

We spent the day at the magical Rave Story at Electrowerx London.  Billy Daniel  Bunters all day celebration and gathering  of the rave tribes in April of 2023. Daniel was kind enough to let us in for the day with a microphone, a  cassette recorder and a bag of c90’s to capture some of day.  In this episode of Bass Scoops Radio we have a mixture of interviews from the day with some of the artists that were playing or speaking , a choice  selection of their  tunes and  then in Part 2 of the show , saving the best for last, an extra special interview with Billy Daniel Bunter himself, telling us all about the story  behind Rave Story, what's happening with his  much loved radio shows and what’s coming next this year from one of the true godfathers of our wonderful rave scene . AAHZ was a nightclub theme at the Beacham Theatre in Orlando, Florida from 1988–1992. The Aahz-themed events were part of the "Late Night" series at the Beacham. The final Aahz-themed events were held between September 1991 and July 1992.

The Edge was a nightclub in Orlando, Florida that opened in 1992. It was a popular venue for the Florida breaks, house, and early trance music scene, which emerged in the late 1980s at the Beacham Theatre. There were also ones in Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale.

The Masquerade Atlanta opened in 1989 at the historic DuPre Excelsior Mill converted into a concert/nightclub venue, hosting styles ranging from punk rock to electronic music. Its three stages, named after the afterlife destinations—Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell—forge distinct musical identities. The club still exists at a new location but it will never have the same vibe it once carried.

Broadcasting from the South West of the UK expect a lot of jungle, dub, hardcore and sounds loosely termed "rave".  The more "left field" the better and our selectors try to bring a few less heard cuts to the mix. We love the roots of the scene, respecting  the forefathers and mothers of the music so we'll be dropping some classics  in with the new tracks pushing bass music forward. Alongside the above genres we can't miss out on a good tune so  you'll also hear  acid house, balearic , house and their  evolutionary  offspring  like trip hop, dubstep, d&b, UK Garage and more...

Since being introduced to Hardcore/Jungle by a family member back in 1993 I was hooked by the fast tempo, samples, basslines and Mc’s that would ride over a tune. Notable radio stations I would listen to were Kool, Don, Scandal, Pulse, Dream, Transmission 1, Eruption, Flex and Ruud. It’s great to see some of these still going or come back. 

Listening to the DJ's on these stations as well as Hype (for his scratching ability and selection) inspired me to try my hand at mixing and after going through several inferior decks I finally got hold of two 1210's that made all the difference to home in on the craft and I never looked back since. I still have them to this day and would consider them family. 

From 2004 I took a hiatus from D&B and sold off all my records but since 2015 there has been a resurgence of the scene that I have got totally addicted to again just like the first time so the vinyl collection has steadily built once more. 

With the improved capability of live streaming I began playing on www.onlyoldskoolradio.com and www.futuredrumz.com in 2018 which then led me to joining Jungletrain in 2019 then onto Dream FM and now most recently, Thames Delta Radio for a monthly show.  

I have made playlists of my shows from each of the stations mentioned above along with any studio mixes I have done to listen back on.
