Julia Friese (*1985) studierte Geschichte, Germanistik, Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaft in Bochum und Berlin.
Ihre Kolumne “Gedanken zum Gegenwärtigen” wurde 2021 mit dem International Music Journalism ausgezeichnet. 2022 erschien ihr Debütroman „MTTR“ im Wallstein Verlag, der 2023 für den Clemens-Brentano-Preis nominiert wurde.
Sie lebt als freie Schriftstellerin in Berlin.

Jenifer Becker (* 1988) arbeitet als Autorin, Kulturwissenschaftlerin und bildende Künstlerin. Sie studierte Kreatives Schreiben am Literaturinstitut Hildesheim, wo sie seit 2015 lehrt und forscht. In ihrer Arbeit befasst sie sich mit Ambivalenzen digitaler Kulturen. Sie lebt in Berlin. Zeiten der Langeweile (2023) ist ihr Debütroman.

Wo kommen wir her, was ist deutsche Herkunft und Erziehung, wie reproduzieren wir unsere Prägung?
Julia Frieses sprachkritischer Roman erzählt vordergründig von Schwangerschaft und Mutterschaft, kreist jedoch in der Tiefe um die Frage, wie wir mit unserer deutschen Vergangenheit umgehen, welche Rolle die Sprache dabei einnimmt und ob die deutsche Sprache nicht vielmehr als Vatersprache bezeichnet werden müsste.

Der Titel MTTR steht nicht etwa für Mutter, sondern für Meantime to Recovery und meint damit die gemittelte Reparaturzeit nach einem Systemcrash. Der Titel nimmt auch Bezug auf die sogenannte “Lingua Tertii Imperii”, kurz LTI, die Sprache des Dritten Reiches, die von Abkürzungen geprägt war.

Mit Jenifer Becker spricht Julia Friese über ihren Debütroman, über Familie als behauptetes Skript, brutale Nachkriegsväter und Mütter, die hinten Augen haben, über das Quecksilberhafte des literarischen Schreibprozesses, Recherche und Kaffeemehl, Durchlauferhitzer und Scatterbrains, weiche Winterjacken in Berlin und die Auflösung der Gegenwart.
