In Rotterdam alleen groeien 40.000 kinderen op in armoede. Kinderen die daar niet om gevraagd hebben en op geen enkele manier verantwoordelijk gehouden kunnen worden. Dat is onrechtvaardig, maar slechts een enkeling bekommert zich om hun lot. Vanessa Umboh is een van hen. Zij heeft armoede aan den lijve ondervonden en weet dus hoe killing het is. Samen met Jasper van den Bovenkamp tekende ze haar levensverhaal op in het boek 'Moeder van 40.000 kinderen'.

herkennen van de risicofactoren is essentieel, voor de patiënt zelf, voor de
medepatiënten en voor de medewerkers. We maken samen met de patiënt een plan
waarin we omschrijven wat de eerste tekenen zijn dat het niet goed gaat met de
patiënt, tekenen dat de spanning oploopt.”
