The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department proposed the rule, which would prohibit a trapper from keeping a live mountain lion in a trap or snare for more than 36 hours to protect the elusive wildcats. The proposed rule would also ban canned hunts for mountain lions. If adopted. The rule would still allow hunting free range mountain lions and would allow people to lawfully dispatch any mountain lions caught in their trap.
