This is the 5th and final track of my 'Sophisticated Ravers' Album.
I made this track with my Moog Matriarch and my original 1982 TR606. I envisaged a hot day in Brazil with psychedelic carnival

Acid Carnival

The 6th track for #jamuary2025 was inspired by my "Radio Interference" album released 30 years ago. Embracing artifacts we normally try to hide, this incorporates mechanical noise (Radio Interference was using RF and EMFs) along with tape hiss and flutter to give the track both a vintage and experimental avantgarde feel. The track was recorded on an 8 track multitrack digital recorder in an old school process, track by track with final mixdown done straight to tape.

The Hammond Novachord used on "Candy Store" is back to play the haunting accompaniment, while the Crumar Bit 99 from the previous jam (jamuary 9) provides special sound effects. Drums are Roland TR-606 and Roger Linn's original Adrenalinn (also processing the TR-606). The Mellotron like flute is played on the Sequential Circuit Six-Trak and bounced to tape.  But the unsung hero instrument here is the Roland TB-303 in a dual role here, the electronic bassist in the first half and the screaming banshee in the second.

Deep Thoughts (Loco454 Mix)

This track was composed at studioH on a Sunday in late November 2024. 
It was one of those dull, gray Sundays that go wonderfully with the excesses of the previous day. 
I recorded this track in one go, comfortably wedged in the sensory wadding of the day after a binge. 
There's not much going on, my TR606 and 808, programmed to a minimum, are pounding the beat and my Telecaster is smearing layers of blue-gray sound. Just the right atmosphere. 
The final solo was recorded a week later, after I had reconnected my 5 neurons.  

Ce titre a été composé au studioH un dimanche de fin novembre 2024. 
C'était un de ces dimanches ternes et gris qui s'accorde merveilleusement bien avec les excès de la veille. 
J'ai enregistré ce titre d'un seul jet, bien confortablement calé dans l’ouate sensorielle des lendemains de cuites. 
Il ne s'y passe pas grand chose, mes TR606 et 808 programmées à minima battent la mesure et ma telecaster badigeonne des nappes de son gris bleu. L'ambiance quoi. 
Le solo final a tout de même été enregistré une semaine plus tard après que j'eu reconnecté mes 5 neurones.  



The Night Owl's Song

11th track for #jamuary2025, "Musique pour decompresser" is French for music to chill or relax to. It also is a reference to the fact that no compressor was used. All the percussions are provided by a (modified, by me) Roland TR-606 clone (TD-6). I'm in the middle of a studio re-arranging and the routing of effects was quite adhoc. For that reason, I used modular effects from some of my other modular / semi modular synths to complement the main synth, a Roland System 100m tribute modular (built from Behringer modules along with some from Pulp Logic and some homemade). No midi, no sequencer, just a plain mono arpeggiator drives all synth sounds.

Canadian Polyglot and polymath living in North Carolina, Francois is Head of Dion Research by day, & artist, maker of instruments & effects, musician, photographer & sound engineer by night.

His interest in music started at a very young age when he studied classical piano and electronics, both of these things would be quite influential on his future work.

He started composing electronic music as a kid in the early 80s and experimenting with sampling on an Apple //e, and would later use the Amiga, Apple IIgs and on the PC, the Gravis Ultrasound wavetable soundcard, and would publish soundbanks for it. Today, most of his music is done without computers, on modular synths and effects built by him, along with some commercial synths and effects.

From 1988 to 1997, he hosted a show on electronic music from its beginning in the early 20th century all the way to modern electronica, and the history of it and the technology that enabled it. He also did a stint at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Videoway / Videotron in Montreal.

In parallel with that, he would continue releasing music through various media, including digital media before MP3 files (through MP2 and ADPCM WAV files on Hyperreal, IUMA etc). In those 30 years to now, he has produced an average of ~1 album (EP or full) a year

Acid Techno, but since I'm neither a Musician, nor have the technical skills, nor use Pc, I create pattern only with Analog Machine, I feel if every things works and I rec. as it comes. For me is wonderland :D
