CEEDs original story behind Souls Wander: 

"Souls Wander is an upbeat, tech house bop I've been working on for quite some time! I started working on this one a few months back and really felt the 130+ BPM wave would be super fitting for this song. It's dark, minimal, and overall playful. My goal for the vocals were to feel like different souls were talking through the automation I used. These souls were just wandering through purgatory and dancin' or sumthin and that's the song!

Some inspiration for the song was found in labels like Sink or Swim, Repopulate Mars, and OKNF!"

"Honestly, David's been a best friend of mine since 2018. Don't know where I'd be without his guidance and musical prowess in Ableton & House culture. As Seaniee says, we're blessed thanks to Daddy CEEDs and his lovely fam. 

I knew I wanted to remix Souls Wander in May of 2022, quite a bit of time after the original released in November of 2021. 

Version 2.2 was the last time I worked on this song in December of 22... Thinking that this was done and ready for release before the end of the year. Life had other plans and I was in my Wave vibe thanks to the Pantheon gang. Oh, and I've been going through a deep K-Pop phase but I think that's been obvious lol

As such, I decided to hold off on this remix until CEEDs bday today. On the 16th, after pulling an all nighter, I realized my production game has leveled up dramatically since my last sesh with this remix. 

Thanks to continuously trained ears, Output, & izotope plugins, I am happy to share this re-imagining of Souls Wander in a Grittier/Glitchier/Garage-y vibe.

Composition wise, the tune is structured similarly to the OG. 

New drums, re-manipulated synths, bass-lines, an ode to the legendary vocal chops of Todd Edwards, and voila! We have ASAHN's birthday treat for the Operations Director and Resident DJ of SFMC.

This release is part of my monthly birthday gift series I'm sharing in 2023.
