Zu Gast in Folge 1 der 2. Staffel des TELESKOPpodcasts ist die Pianistin, Komponistin und Produzentin Midori Hirano. Diese und die folgenden drei Ausgaben unseres Podcasts entstanden in Verbindung mit TELESKOPradius, Konzertreihe für experimentelle Musik und Visuals- audiovisuelle Aufführungen, die dieses Jahr im UT Connewitz Leipzig stattfanden. Im Mai 2022 spielte Midori Hirano den Auftakt der Radius-Reihe gemeinsam mit Medienkünstler Xaver Hirsch.  Midori begann als Kind mit dem Klavierspiel, studierte später klassisches Klavier und fand den ursprünglichen Einstieg in die heutige Form ihres Musikschaffens über Software-Synthese.

Vi hører ofte om nye forskningsresultater fra rummet og der bliver ofte vist flotte billeder af fjerne galaxer og stjernetåger. Forskerne har flere instrumenter og vores opfattelse af rummet og os selv bliver påvirket af ny viden.

Men ud over forskningen og facinationen, så er der faktisk også en masse virksomheder som producerer instrumenter og nye materialer til rumforskning.  En af de virksomheder er Space Composite Structures Denmark, der med sine med 8 medarbejdere, har leveret JWST kamerates centrale ophængning og dele af teleskopets struktur, som er vævet af kulfibertråde.

woof - teleskop

You may have heard about about space telescopes and gravitational wave detectors which are new instruments for the investigation of space and the universe. Now a new instrument is being tested underneath the South Pole. It literally consists of a cubic kilometer large ice cube with detectors that can catch small light emissions from a long distance. 

This instrument is giving us a new look at the universe very different from the electromagnetic light we can see in a traditional telescope.

Science Journalist Jens Degett is interviewing senior researcher Troels Petersen from the Niels Bohr Institute at University of Copenhagen about the new type of telescope and what it can measure.

IceCube may reveal structure of the universe

Here is a movie made from fantastic original high quality photos from outer space of galaxies and nebulae by Lars "Zinken" Sundqvist (ZinkTech) combined with original spacial electric violin & synt-pad instrumental music. The music is written, played and mixed by me, Stefan Granqvist.

I hope the photos and the music speaks for itself. Please use a 4K TV and a really good sound system or head phones, if you want to be able to see and hear this in full quality. The low synt bass notes require a good sound system. I hope you like it.I hope you like it. 

Background:
My friend Lars showed me his night photos of the sky, shot from a balcony with a good telescope & good camera. Exposure time 3-5 hours, the telescope is fixed to the pole star. Wow. I said to Lars: ”Maybe those photos could be combined with some music of mine, I make some videos with photo backgrounds”. This is the result.

Outer Space

I have played violin all my life and have now decided to release some of the music I have written through my life. Back in the 70's I took my first steps playing an amplified acoustic violin in a blues & jazz band. I put a mic on my acoustic violin and experimented with guitar effects, for example chorus, overdrive and wah-wah.

Nowadays I play several electric violins as well as my old acoustic friend. I am passionate about mixing styles and mastering many kinds of music: Rock violin, Folk Music, Country, Irish Music, Jazz, Django Jazz, Singer-Songwriter etc. That is why I call one of my albums "Violin Diversity".

In my music I combine my professional experiences as a computer engineer with analog and digital instruments. On my albums I play acoustic & electric guitar, bass, some organ and percussion, as well as programming the drum machines. Occasionally I also do some singing.

I love creativity and playing things in a way they have never been played before. I also do some performances now and then. I play in pub gigs, churches, accompanying choir singers.
