I started with a toy piano.  
More than 40 years ago, my grandfather gave me a mahogany Kawai upright piano.
I studied piano with Ms. Makishima from the age of 5 to 17.  She was an elderly woman in my neighbourhood who wore colorful clothes and loved the Electone as well as the piano.  
In high school, I played electric bass in a rock band with friends in a club.  (I haven't played bass since then, though.)

I entered university (not a music school or major) and joined a piano club called Piano-no-kai.  The members, friends enjoyed playing the piano and explored  classical pieces, popular, jazz, and more - each in their own way.  


After graduation, I bought my first electric piano to play at night after work.  (My mahogany Kawai piano was sold.)
I've replaced electric pianos due to broken parts.  
My current one is the third one.  I've been playing it for over ten years with a repair.


I began learning jazz because I wanted to know music theory. (I didn't - and still don't -  play jazz well.)  
First, I learned with Mr. Sugawara, who works as a writer and a translator. 
Later, I learned with Ms. Hayasaka at the Kawai music school in Omotesando.  I learned theory and co-created a little music piece.
I also joined a small free jazz band, where one of my colleagues from work was playing.  

After that, again I returned to classical piano, studying with Ms. Asami at the music school.  
She taught me how to play with more fluency and elegance, and with greater attention to detail than I had learned before.

After that, I studied a little harmony and counterpoint on my own.

Between shadow and light, breath and silence.
A sound explorer with many roots, I compose fragments of universes — experimental pieces carried by a non-lexical voice, without words yet never without emotion. Each track is an open enigma. I do not seek the norm, but the inner echo — the emotion to be shared. To listen is to cross through. To compose is to translate the unknown.

This beautiful quote by Michelangelo captures my way of thinking:
“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”

Music is the language and soul of humanity.  You can see and hear music, if not…you feel it.  Listen, see, and feel the music.

My story is the same as probably so many.  I always wanted to write music and share it, to express it, to let others feel it.  Like so many before me - life took over.  Responsibility.  Sure, I could have gone after the things I loved, but I felt the responsibility, so off around the world I went.  That was truly amazing, too.  But always tapping on my shoulder was the desire to write.  So I kept at it, just never doing anything with it.

Jumping forward to the here and now - I’m doing it.  Writing, composing, arranging, and editing.  I hope you enjoy it, give me your thoughts, and share it with others.
