ABOUT FRANCINE McCABE:
Francine McCabe is a mixed-blood Anishinaabe writer, fibre artist, and organic master gardener from Batchewana First Nation, living on the unceded traditional territory of the Stz’uminus First Nation with her partner and two sons. She holds a degree in Creative Writing from Vancouver Island University. She is an active member of the Vancouver Island Fibreshed network and has recently joined the Guild of Canadian Weavers. She is the past recipient of the Mary Garland Coleman Prize in Lyrical Poetry and was awarded the 2014 Pat Bevan Scholarship for Creative Writing. Her writing has appeared in Portal Magazine, CV Collective, and FOLKLIFE.

ABOUT MEGAN COLE:
Megan Cole the Director of Programming and Communications for the BC and Yukon Book Prizes. She is also a writer based on the territory of the Tla'amin Nation. Megan writes creative nonfiction and has had essays published in Chatelaine, This Magazine, The Puritan, Untethered,  and more. Dying cotton is extremely water intensive. In this episode we interview Graham Stewart, Founder and EVP of Fibre52 about his long history in the textile industry and his passion to make it more sustainable.  He takes us through the complete process of dying clothes and tells us about the different types of dyes and colorants used to color fabrics. Graham started Fibre 52, a company that uses special dying technology to reduce time, energy and water usage of typical cotton dying processes in textile mills.

In this oral history, Carolyn Fineran, founder and owner of Denver's Tapestry store, recounts the early influences that inspired her to start her own business, the challenges and joys of being a single working mother, and changes in Denver's Cherry Creek neighborhood and the boutique industry from the 1970s to today. 

Fineran is the founder and owner of Tapestry, a clothing and jewelry store that operated in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood for 25 years, from 1975-2000. Fineran is also a member of Fashion Group International, a global non-profit organization that aims to support members of the fashion industry, and whose Denver chapter was founded in 1958 by Denver Post fashion editor, writer, and illustrator Gretchen Weber.

“Right now the American theater is trying to figure out what it's doing, but in the process…we’re seeing experimentation. Oftentimes, I’ll expand my students' horizons to think about things like working at Meow Wolf, that’s very theatrically adjacent… or you can think about experiential design… within these times of identity uncertainty of an industry, there is the opportunity to push the limits and boundaries.”
