I tried to upload this a long time ago, closer to when it was recorded yet it could not poke through the canopy of weeds... SoundCloud had a very harsh punitive system of nuking anything that started with any detectable copyrighted tune (quite rarely the case for me so almost all other mixes were unaffected). Now things are relaxed I thought I would attempt to upload it again, bloody 15 years on! It's nothing too special just me spinning some wax, CD's and some real good tracks xx

P.S. This is the original artwork that I made at the time with a photo I took on an old Canon camera.

Alec Pritchard - Spring Grooves 2009 (12-04-2009)

This Sublime Saturdays at Gelato Cafe, we had our first guest who had their second tour. Josh Taylor was available in a pinch, and he showed up in force, with a posse in tow. The place was packed from the start, as Thomas FItzgerald cleaned up the runway for Josh to take us off into the sunset. Thomas worked with a higher BPM than normal and he whipped out a few digital tracks that he used to own on vinyl, so there was some familiarity happening. Josh soothed our souls with his caring lullaby of balearic sounds, Chill Out, and Deep House.

The sunset was one for the books. Gelato Vero has one of the best views of the sunset and the bay in San Diego, and their beverages, gelato, and treats can't be beat.

Lot of foot traffic and a few friends stopped by to hear our sounds, get some coffee and snack, and catch the sunset.

We laid down that darker space music sound to complement that sublime namaste. We've been playing with some higher-BPM lately to change up the vibe and use som tracks that just sound better with tempo. They were gathering dust, anyways. Fly! Be free!

Music collector, DJ and occasional artist/producer. DJ'ing since 1997, I play a wide range of music that is mainly focused on the deeper/dubbier shades of house, techno & electro. I also love all kinds of eclectic stuff including disco, boogie, Italo, synth pop, nu jazz, jazzdance, lounge, trip-hop, downtempo, dub, reggae, jungle, liquid drum & bass, IDM, electronica, Warp, Ninja Tune etc.

In summer 2013 I set up the Avenue Red (@avenue-red) imprint to push quality material from a wide plethora of DJs and artists who I have particular respect for in terms of their musical output, artistry and dedication to the cause.

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
