An adaptation of Peter Brown's beloved, award-winning, #1 New York Times bestseller, the Dreamworks Animation film has gone on to gross over $300 million worldwide, won more Best Animated Feature prizes than any other film in 2024 and has earned multiple nominations from the Critics Choice, Golden Globes and BAFTA awards for Best Animated Feature, Best Original Score (composed by Kris Bowers) and Best Original Song ("Kiss The Sky" by Maren Morris). Bowers and Morris were kind enough to spend some time speaking with Daniel Howat and Will Mavity, respectively, about their work on the film, which you can listen to below. 2025 Oscars Predictions and Gambling Picks w/ David Long! - ORC 2/27/25

Tonebenders was able to do an episode with every sound team, that has been nominated in the Best Sound category, at this years Oscars.  So with the award show only a few days away, this week we are going to take listen to a selection of each interview, to try to get an idea of what was done on each film, to lead to it's nomination.  First up we will hear from Paul Massey, Ted Caplan and Don Sylvester from A Complete Unknown. That is followed by Hortense Bailly, Cyril Holtz, Aymeric Devoldère & Carolina Santana from Emilia Perez.  Jack Dolman, Nancy Nugent Title & John Marquis speak about their work on Wicked. The only animated film nominated, The Wild Robot, is represented by Gary Rizzo, Brian Chumney, Randy Thom & Leff Lefferts.  The final sound team I talk to is from Dune Part 2, with Richard King, Doug Hemphill and Ron Bartlett.  What a line up on this episode!

The Wild Robot

Fan-made remake of “Roz's Story” from the 2024 animated film The Wild Robot.

This track plays during one of the film’s most heartfelt moments—when Fink shares a story of Roz with the animal babies.

I recreated this piece entirely by ear using FL Studio, aiming to capture the warmth, nostalgia, and quiet hope of the original soundtrack.

So, yeah, today we’re doing something different…kinda. I Just absolutely fell in love with “The Wild Robot” like I have never ever in my life with a movie, and I’m not even a parent! 
I cried a lot each time I watched it, I DON’T KNOW WHY! Something about this movie man, it really got me, the movie and the soundtrack, they’re just so absolutely stunning, Dreamworks and Kris Bowers nailed it with this masterpiece!
Making this video was super hard cuz the clips and the music would occasionally make me tear up. I swear to god I have no idea why I get so sensitive. It’s like it cursed me and now I’m just deeply in love with this movie and every time I watch it or listen to the music I cry......sooooooo, yeah I made a small Fan-made soundtrack for it! I had to! And I plan to make some other songs based on it too!! I hope you like it!

For this one I just combined 2 of my favorite songs from the soundtrack, I took the more fast paced rhythm of the second half of “I have everything I need” and extended it by using the main melody of “I could use a boost”. Pretty small, pretty hype and I really enjoyed making it!! I can’t wait to do more, plus the MHA songs, but it’ll all depend if god will allow it tbh. As always, time is the anxious artist’s worst enemy, still, I’ll try my best!
