This week we're joined in the studio by Dub Vader, who is the creator of Tuff Tone Sound System, a local based soundsystem crew operating out of so called Sydney.

Inspired by the legendary reggae sound systems of London, Dub Vader established Tuff Tone Sound System in Sydney to immerse audiences in the rich tapestry of Roots Reggae.  

With his crew, Mooch (People Mover) and Matthew Walker MC, Tuff Tone has become a staple in the city's sound system culture, building a loyal community drawn to their superior sound quality, profound musical knowledge, and guaranteed good times.

The Midday Mix - Tuff Tone Sound System

This week we're joined in the studio by two very special guests, DJ Sotofett & DJ Fett Burger, aka Sex Tags, ahead of their sold out show at the Sydney Opera House tonight, curated by Kato as part of Vivid Fest. 

DJ Sotofett is a resident DJ at the Tresor club in Berlin, and is one of the most releasing artists from Norway's extended club & leftfield scene in the last two decades. 

As a DJ, the musical re-source is simply rooted in the past five decades of sound system music, spanning Techno/Electro/House sets to Soul, Jazz & Funk to Hip-Hop, Dub and Real House Music. 

Last year saw the light of "Resonance of Dub", a club concept with guest singers and sound effect units as tools for all styles of Dub music to meet the classic mixing approach of Techno clubs.

Apart from mavericking the Sex Tags Mania and Amfibia imprints, he runs the club label WANIA, and also the world's cheapest vinyl record distributor Fett-Distro. Sotofett's graphic work can be found on records and flyers since the late 90's, and he's also a cutting engineer at Manmade Mastering in Berlin.


DJ Fett Burger is an eclectic underground DJ and producer running the record label Sex Tags UFO, the leftfield label-project Mongo Fett as well as the long lasting online tastemaker DJ-mix series Trushmix.He also ran the now defunct Disco/House record label Freakout Cult and has presented the event and exhibition series "One" in Bergen, Norway since 2012 - a space where drawing, sound, installation and print works meet through exclusive DJ Fett Burger collaborations. 

As a DJ he is acclaimed for his diverse selection and long trippy sets with a solid base in House Music, Disco and Leftfield. He's not tied up to any genres, but is a 100% party DJ that keeps things odd and underground while doing his own thing at his own pace and desire.

The Midday Mix - Sex Tags

This week we're back in the studio with legendary duo Dubkasm, ahead of their dance at Fraser park tonight presented by Foreigndub & IWRDM.

Expect a power hour of dub, roots and steppers!!

Dubkasm are comprised of childhood friends Digistep and DJ Stryda, who kicked off their dub project in the mid-'90s before going on to launch their Sufferah's Choice label in 2003 in order to showcase their studio productions. 

Their 2009 debut album 'Transform I' was a culmination of their work so far, collecting tracks from their previous 12-inches and including vocal turns from Dub Judah, Levi Roots and Afrikan Simba. 

A dub version of the entire record along with a remix CD completed the Transform I Trilogy in 2010.Dubkasm’s blend of live instrumentation and lo-tech dubwise textures results in a unique sonic amalgamation, underpinned by a strong Rasta roots vibe.

Fast forward to 2025 Dubkasm continues to push out a positive message through quality roots & dub reggae productions and regular live shows across the globe.

Straight out of London, KM3Y is a DJ with a passion for all things DnB, jungle, garage, bassline, and beyond. KM3Y has been making serious waves, sharing stages with DnB and jungle heavyweights like Culture Shock, Inja, Aries, Goddard, Royalston, Chris Munky and The Upbeats. 

From early roots in the UK DnB scene, KM3Y has built a reputation for delivering unrelenting sets that keep the vibe going, banger after banger. Expect high energy, pure vibes, and plenty of bass face and trigger finger combos—KM3Y’s sets are pure fire from start to finish. 

P.Smurf is an acclaimed Australian Hip-Hop MC and founder of Sydney Independent Hip- Hop label, Scratches Records. While establishing strong repute through his collaborative projects Daily Meds, Reverse Polarities and Sketch the Rhyme, Smurf, as he is colloquially known, has remained an integral part of the Hip Hop community for well over a decade. 

As an artist, P.Smurf champions an unmissable raw voice, speaking on political and social issues, encouraging awareness and inclusivity in his message.

Arsonist is an obsessive, Bengali born, chooser of music, who experiments with its form and function. Lending themself to unapparent danceability and abrasive headyness you can come to expect surprisingly delightful textures. 

He channels his all-consuming desire to push the experimental low-end through various underground scenes within Eora, and through the degradation of his cochlear. 

scarieistgirlintheworld is an eclectic producer and DJ crafting sonic universes for intense movement as well as mediation. Evolving from a background of lifelong classical musical training she subverts all expectations and barriers in her live works, original productions and dj sets. 

Arsonist and scariestgirlintheworld are constantly curating and hosting many types of events in Eora’s experimental dance space pushing unfiltered bass driven delirium confounding casuals and heads alike.

I.C.Y lives in the ever growing and wide realm of bass music, a fusion of deep dubstep, groovy breaks, minimal drum and bass and atmospheric jungle, always bringing it back to the roots with hip hop and reggae. 

Producing her own works from bassy breaks, melodic synth waves to remixes of her favorite hip hop and indie artists, I.C.Y has a clear distinct sound and journey within her sets which is bound to get you moving and grooving.

CEO of Underground community based collective - BUMP IN and Aptitude Arts, Duzi has been grinding away providing quality events for like minded people across Sydney for the past 2 years. 

Duzi's sound revolves around gritty, filthy, bass heavy dance tunes in the garage, dubstep, house, ghettotech and grime realm, highlighting aspects of hip hop and rap, paying respects to his old school hip hop and grime roots. 

He's played as main support for many high caliber local and international selectors including Oppidan, Denham Audio, Killjoy, Mxxwll, Robustt, Charlie Shell and Macca47 just to name a few. 

Duzi has unparalleled passion for the Sydney underground music and arts scene with the end goal of elevating the experience for Sydney nightlife, supporting the artistic community, platforming local artists, introducing Australian music to the world and introducing global underground sounds to Australia.
