Summer Set

Lot of foot traffic and a few friends stopped by to hear our sounds, get some coffee and snack, and catch the sunset.

We laid down that darker space music sound to complement that sublime namaste. We've been playing with some higher-BPM lately to change up the vibe and use som tracks that just sound better with tempo. They were gathering dust, anyways. Fly! Be free!

Solid momentum and great energy on the maiden voyage of Rise Ritual at Gelato Vero Caffe. Resident and promoter Thomas Fitzgerald tweaked his more common sound from Sublime Saturdays to make you wanna run around the block like your mama's coming to visit. That last Sublime Saturday was the right kind of unexpected. First-time guest Worth Planer wowed the crowd, a lot of whom happened to be his posse. He had us up and dancing with his rare, soulful sound. Best way for us to describe his sound is that he's a youthful man with an ancient Deep House soul. His style almost defies description. His selection and care in transition are uncommon and genuine expression. Thomas Fitzgerald started it all dark to set Worth up for the deep spike we knew he would give take advantage of for the win.

Bio? This is where I'm supposed to tell you about my world wide gigs and A list collaborations. To me, music has always been about the music and not myself. The dj is the conduit to bring or enhance that musical experience to you. For me it's always been about my passion for music and the way it makes us all feel. I have a simple philosophy that I love music and enjoy mixing and producing tunes and hope people enjoy them too. That's it!
 
Okay, guess I need to give you a little background.... Grew up in Chicago in the early 70's and 80's and was in the right place at the right time to see the birth of house music by some of Chicago's best innovators. I personally got started as a dj in the mid 80's and have appeared at multiple venues over the years, as well as featured on multiple radio shows around the world.  My love will always be vinyl and still believe newer dj's should learn the craft the "old fashioned" way however, will admit that I have been slowly moving towards a lot of the newer technology.

Dj since 1991. Vinyl enthusiast. Some would say a Trainspotter. Love techno, acid, rave, and house music. 

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
