Po slabši predstavi na prvi tekmi, so Lakersi na drugi tekmi pokazali povsem drugačen obraz in z neprimerno boljšo igro v obrambi dobili dvoboj z Minnesoto. Luka Dončić je dosegel 31 točk, 12 skokov, 9 podaj in 1 blokado ter zopet briljiral v napadu, na drugi strani parketa pa skupaj s soigralci igral odlično obrambo, ki je Volkove zadržala na samo 85 točkah. Luka Dončić je zaradi trebušne viroze bruhal ves popoldan pred tekmo, večer pred tem po besedah JJ Redicka ni spal, nato pa kljub temu stisnil zobe, prispeval 17 točk, 7 skokov in 8 podaj, vendar to tudi ob odlični predstavi LeBrona ni bilo dovolj za zmago na 3. tekmi serije. Lakersi tokrat niso izgubili samo zaradi zdravstenih težav Luke, temveč tudi zaradi lastnih napak. V Minnesoti smo spremljali pravi triler na parketu, ki je bil odločen v zadnjih sekundah. Sodniške napake, odločitev JJ Redicka, da igra cel 2. polčas z isto peyeerko, napake igralcev na koncu tekme, vse to so razlogi za poraz Lakersov, ki jih je postavili v skorajda brezizhoden položaj, saj sedaj v seriji zaostajajo že s 3:1.
