Today I was inspired to try working in a novel time signature. The idea came from Gullo who I follow on Mastodon. He created a track in 11/8 today (https://soundcloud.com/cristian-gurra-50585796/118-cheerfulness) and I realised I’ve never really broken out of 4/4. 

My first attempt was genuinely so bad I didn’t want to upload it. A real mess. In that one I started with the chords and tried to get a beat to fit with little success. So I had another go, this time starting with the beat and once I had a rhythm I was happy with I started layering things up. I’m reasonably happy with the result and I shall be trying other time signatures again in the future.

This is the story of a strange house in a remote neighborhood and how one kid thought it would be a good idea to explore the VERY CLEARLY HAUNTED HOUSE like GEEZ what did you think was gonna happen?! This takes a TON of inspiration from Camellia, partly because House Thirteen was originally gonna be a Geometry Dash level using Ghost. But then I had a very good idea. I u̶s̶e̶d̶ ̶F̶5̶ made all the ideas and story I had surrounding the level into its own song, which HOLY CRAP it turned out amazing. I learned so much about how to make rhythm game-ish stuff and I'm absolutely going to be doing this style a lot more in the future. Who knows, maybe I'll end up fully being a part of the DTM community loop and getting into rhythm games that people actually care about (jk i love you pulsus <3). My friend Jack aka Cryotech did the main ghost vocals and I did the opening vocals!

wowee has it been a while! i've been sitting on this one for like 3 years by now, polishing it more and more, yet never feeling totally satisfied. which has become a bit of an issue for me. my standards for my music have risen higher than i really realized and as a result i've made less music and posted pretty much none of it. so, since the year is ending, i'm gonna say eff it and post this. it's not perfect, but it is finished! i really want to get back to just having fun with making music instead of worrying so much about if it's "good enough". gotta get that childlike wonder back! i'm normally not one for new year's resolutions, but here's to just making more music for the heck of it! happy new year's!

Story 2 but every time sig changes instrumentals 2

This is probably my biggest project so far: another brand new soundtrack for a video game. I can’t say much for now, as it’s still very new and far from finished, but overall I’d say at least around sixty tracks are planned. Much like with Homewide, I’m aiming to combine stylistic diversity and jazz fusion influences, while still making sure it all works as video game music.
