My Beautiful Ambient Lie

This was always going to be the title track of the album. 
I’d written this song in October 2023 – we were on holiday in Pembrokeshire and my eldest daughter had picked up a nasty throat infection while we were away, so we were taking it easy… not dragging the girls out on too many walks and staying in and chilling in the little cottage we were renting for the week. I’d taken my little Taylor GS mini guitar with me and was noodling about with some chords in a different tuning, which I couldn’t stop playing. And then the lyrics seemed to suddenly pour out of me, without thought or control, almost completely finished. It was odd and freeing at the same time. And I love to sing this live – it’s probably my favourite at the moment.
I love the instrumentation on this track. My lovely friend and fantastic pedal steel guitarist, Arne Skage, features on this track and it’s exactly the feel I was hoping for when I wrote it. Coupled with Chris’ Hammond Organ and my guitar part, its exactly how I thought it would sound. It’s a song that almost explains all the others on the album as parts of a whole – the spaces in between everyday life.

Finally the lyrics have landed to fit the piece and moreover Album 12 is completed. Really can't wait to release this even now it feels more in context and building on 'The Perfect Storm'.

This was the title track as this piece was the first to be created for this 2nd album. It's creation was done on an old PC first using Acid Pro software. When I transitioned to a Mac, it was moved over to GarageBand and eventually to Logic Pro X. Quite a journey. Although I play guitar, the guitar work on this was done rather painstakingly on GarageBand one note at a time. The fun part was laying the guitar, bumping up a copy an octave higher so the second time through sounds like a duet between a guitar and mandolin.

First Light

The title track of the Regrets album sets the emotional foundation for what follows, diving deep into the weight of missed opportunities, unspoken words, and the pain of wondering what could have been. This song is a raw and honest reflection on the pain of regret, contrasting it with heartbreak to make a powerful statement: pain is temporary, but regret is permanent.

The lyrics explore the emotional struggle of looking back on choices that were never made, love that was never fully expressed, and moments that slipped away. The narrator realizes too late that avoiding pain doesn’t mean avoiding suffering. Instead, regret lingers like a ghost, an unshakable presence that haunts every step forward.

Throughout the verses, the imagery of fleeting chances, wasted time, and lost dreams paints a picture of someone who is trapped in the past, questioning whether things could have been different. The Japanese verse adds a global, poetic element, expressing how time moves forward and choices can’t be undone. The blend of languages reinforces the idea that regret is a universal experience, one that transcends cultures and backgrounds.

The choruses drive home the central theme: physical and emotional wounds will heal, but regret is a scar that never fades. The song builds in intensity as it progresses, leading to the bridge, where the narrator asks a haunting question: If given another chance, would I finally get it right? This moment of self-awareness highlights that regret isn’t just about the past—it shapes how we approach the future.

By the outro, the narrator reaches a painful yet resolute conclusion: they would rather endure heartbreak, loss, and even suffering than live a life shackled by regret. The final words serve as a powerful reminder that we can choose to take risks, to love, and to chase dreams—because in the end, the pain of failure fades, but the pain of not trying lasts forever.

As the first track of the Regrets album, this song establishes the overarching theme of the project. It sets the stage for a journey through love, loss, and self-reflection, leading seamlessly into the next track, Broken Hearts. Each song on the album explores a different facet of regret—some filled with sorrow, others with defiance, and some with the strength to move forward despite the weight of the past.

This song exists as a wake-up call for anyone afraid to take risks, reminding listeners that time keeps moving forward and the worst thing we can do is let fear hold us back. It’s an anthem for those who have ever questioned their choices, encouraging them to embrace every moment before it turns into another regret.

Lo-Feelers is a soulful, lo-fi collective born in the golden in-betweens of jazz, R&B, indie groove, and analog nostalgia. Their name echoes their essence: they feel deeply, but never loudly.
Formed between Paris, Oran, and nowhere in particular, the band brings together a blend of poetic melancholy and rhythmic subtlety. Feeling Café, their debut album, is a musical café without walls a place where memory, melody, and silence come to sip together.

Susy is a Welsh singer songwriter, now based in the Black Country near Birmingham. She draws upon the everyday for her inspiration when writing, focusing on melodic vocal lines accompanied with simple guitar or piano as a backdrop for her voice. Susy is constantly inspired by many artists, old and new and is currently working on a variety of interesting projects, both solo and collaborative. The first of these was the release of her debut EP, Home is the Colour, out in September 2023, closely followed by her Winter EP in November, All Wrapped Up. Her debut album, The Spaces In Between, was released on September 27th 2024 and has been played on several radio stations including the Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2 and the Welsh A List on BBC Radio Wales. It was also the featured album on  Iain Anderson’s show on BbC Radio Scotland.
Produced by Chris Pepper in Saltwell Studios, it features contributions from Gordon Giltrap MBE, Findlay Napier, Angus Lyon, Anna Massie, Pete Harvey and Arne Skage.

Gibson Cherry Dot obsession continues. Inspired by exciting grooves and a 60’s vibe which I wear on my sleeve. There’s an eclectic mix of guitar fuelled rhythms all written, produced and performed by myself which have now culminated in 226 tracks in 5 years. Having added vocals to the mix this has brought a further depth and individuality to the songs. 2020 saw the creativity in writing and self releasing 2 EP's and 9 albums 'The Black Tulip' , 'Prismatic' , 'Who Would You Be?' , 'The Red Carpet', 'Cat & Mouse', ‘How This Plays Out', 'Positive Signs', 'All The Colours' and  '9' from April 2022, it's frenetic.
These are available on the usual outlets Spotify/iTunes/Deezer/Pandora/Napster, Bandcamp etc.

Its eclectic, quirky I confess, British? Experimental in places but above all stuffed full with Gibson guitars, energy and a passion for music and life in the highs and lows that days of late bring.  Hope you appreciate the artwork too all photographed or produced by me to keep it authentic and original.

The tenth album 'Keep On' saw the development of style and flow which  includes my personal favourites 'The Things That You Love', 'Man on The Run' and the title track, 'Keep On'. These all adapted a different approach and development that simply wouldn't have occurred at the start of the journey,  

The music's progressing and the album 'The Perfect Storm' set the benchmark in online attention with the title track single. I think the style and sincerity of performance mirrored the fact that all of my tracks are written for a reason and sparked by quite intense life changing events behind the scenes, you couldn't write it or maybe I could ! 
Personal choices at the moment are the opener Can't Erase The Memory, I Can and of course the single The Perfect Storm. 

Twelfth album ‘Heart Of Blue’, is completed and recently released  September 6th 2024. It's been a while (for me) in the making and each track just builds on the last. The themes of resilience, belief and positivity remain and the music continues to be guitar driven and punchy with hooks and catchy melodies.  

Album 13 is entitled 'Every Time' and is released to all platforms on June 12th. To come so quickly after 'Heart Of Blue' says a lot about the inspiration and creative drive. Themes of resilience, perseverance, hope and love, dominate in what I believe is my most cognitive and mature album yet, see what you think.
 
I'm thankful the creativity continues. The fact the writing and playing still excites and intrigues is a bonus! Where there's a story to tell and a melody to be heard the last song is always my drug for the next, 13 albums in it's not abating anytime soon.
