Serendipty introduction 001: Semo Prime

Semir Mecinovic, also known as „Semo Prime“, is a 19-year-old aspiring DJ from Ulm. He discovered his passion for electronic music very early on, at the age of 13. His cousin, who was also a DJ at the time, taught him his first tricks for mixing techno. At that time, he was still using a progressive sound, so he started to try his hand at the decks.

During his youth, Semo and electronic music went their separate ways until he turned 18. As soon as he came of age, Semo started going to techno clubs and partying until he finally decided to buy his first controller in June 2023. So for more than 10 months now he has been doing nothing but creating sound day and night.

Starting with hard techno, Semo has found his way away from hard techno to groovy, tooly techno. This is how Semo Prime manages to make the floors in Ulm and the surrounding area shake.

„The most important thing on the dancefloor is the vibe, the people and the sound. Moments full of love and feelings of happiness, as if there was free candy floss all over your body“.

marlon strauch - most recently known under their artist pseudonym „arloauch“ - is an up-and-coming dj/producer from ulm, germany.

„the entirety of my being is an artistic performance. ever since i gained consciousness, i have wanted to express myself in any form of art i could get my hands upon. i believe there is no singular artistic medium that is not connected to another. to me, techno and club-culture is a form of freedom, a rebellion against heteronormative and conservative norms, and a way of transporting my deepest thoughts and feelings outside of my head. i draw my inspiration from everywhere.“

in the past, the 21-year-old has expressed themselves through fashion, poetry, visual art, music production and curation and even tried their luck at coding. arloauch‘s sound is heavily affected by these influences from all kinds of sources. it is dark, surprising, impulsive and a little bit strange. nonetheless, the dj always transports their crowd to a mood found nowhere else with their groovy, break-heavy, electronic noises often incorporating sounds inspired by nature. aditionally, arloauch has produced a variety of original track demos and released a number of mixes, all of which can be found on their soundcloud. it is important to them to showcase imperfection and progress.

Techno is colourful.

We are LAPS Recordings, a young, growing Techno Label from Germany! The name "LAPS" is an acronym containing the initials of our 4 founding members. At the same time it highlights the concept of time, which is a topic all our productions will revolve around! 

Coming from very different musical backgrounds, the core substance of our label sound revolves around dark, energetic and emotional melodies, forceful kickdrums and driving basslines. Those main topics reappear in all of our productions, but so do the individual tastes of all founding members.

Chime Garlands aka Benjamin learned to play the piano & the drums when he was a kid. After playing in numerous bands, he discovered the world of electronic music in 2011 and taught himself how to produce his own tracks.
One year later he started to release his ﬁrst tunes under the moniker 'Nimanslin'. He got signed by different labels in 2013 and released several Drum & Bass and Ambient albums.
In early 2015 Benjamin decided to start something fresh - he wanted to redeﬁne himself as an artist by changing his name to 'Chime Garlands'.
Benjamin explored the genres of House, Techno, Industrial, Acid & Trance and implemented them into his own work. 
His focus is the connection of organic sounds and electronic soundscapes. 
The ambivalence of raw, energetic elements and melancholic chord progressions is something he carried with him - and with every step as an artist. 
He describes his own music as 'dancy, fierce, melancholic and everything in between'.

Name: Pasquale Maassen
Born 26.02.1982 in dormagen, pasquale maassen began to produce trance-music in 1995 and came to real techno in 1999 through the track “chris liebing - new beginnings”. in 1998 he started to produce tracks digitally with the daw fruityloops and arranged them live with it, loving the crunshed and distorted style of schranz.
pasquale is one of the founders of one of the biggest hardtechno boards on the internet (united schranz board, www.unitedsb.de, founded 2000). in this time he and djs like sven wittekind, dj amok and viperxxl taught each other and pushed themselves further. most people who listened to his tracks thought they were produced “real analog”. he also was the winner of a monthly contest on mp3.de in 2000 but he never received the price. in 2001 pasquale was invited to play live at a private birthdayparty where he suddenly started to improvise and began to build new tracks live and on the fly. for a long time he was the only one who acted digitally live this way. this technique has been proofed in clubs like butan, taucher, pulp mansion, sause, depot and events like ruhr in love. his first 12’’ on the label jerkbox from andreas seibel aka frakmatik (“stupide mit ziel”) has been voted to ep of the month in the german technoscene magazine “raveline”.
from this point on he has released many tracks in many styles via 34 different labels where he has very ofen had the starterrelease. his track “ride kat” has been chosen to be played on german tv in the series “space night”.
to this day he had produced quite every style of electronical music and is owner of a label which was born in 2001 as “fanatische loop programmierer” and renamed to “renamed” in 2008.
