This was a quickie little "tongue in the cheek" 4-channel Amiga .mod tribute to Radix, that I wrote back in 2006.

A 4-channel FastTracker 2 / .xm-module that I originally wrote wayback in 2002 for my 4 x song chiptune musicdisk with the same title. The whole disk was trying to channel some kind of budo/ninja-influenced vibes. I think I actually wrote the song in a Fast Tracker 2-"clone" called "Real Tracker 2", which was a cut down version of FT2 featurewise, but I preferred the cleaner look & feel of it back in the day for some reason and used it for many of my .xm tunes during those days :D

Warlord - Budo Bastard (.xm)

Bitbear's contribution to TRSAC 2025's Oldschool Music Competition.

This song was originally made in Renoise with lyrics and vocals in mind, but as I've been struggling with insomnia the last months, I've focused on exercise to exhaust my body such that I'm able to sleep. This has given much less time to make music than I would like, and the vocals are thus still incomplete.

Also, to my surprise, TRSAC doesn't have a Streaming Music compo this year.

I can thank my wife for urging me to reproduce this song in Impulse Tracker so I can now happily submit it to TRSAC 2025's Oldskool Music Competition.

I have to admit that felt liberating producing in Impulse Tracker again after not using it for over 25 years. I'm definitely going to be spending more time producing oldskool tracker modules in the coming months, which excites me!

The idea for the song is that we all have hard days, especially as of late, and that everything seems bleak and depressing – I feel you. Times are hard. However, we all need to remind ourselves that we matter, we have value, and we are loved by someone.

Bitbear started fiddling with music in Pro Tracker on the Amiga 500 in the early 90's. But first when he got his hands on Scream Tracker and Fast Tracker on a PC, he started producing "real" music under the alias "Power of Creation".

He created two albums and submitted songs to various demoscene competitions throughout the 90's until he put his musical career on the shelf until it was rebooted in 2012 by entering the Kindergarden 2012 Dance Music Competition under the new-found alias Bitbear.

I primarily write my music using various tracker programs and unless otherwise stated in the track description, the sounds aim to be authentic to the target format/platform and no external post-processing is used (except e.g. adding fadeouts to renders of infinitely looping tracks).
