This week’s episode is a special one! We are sitting down and talking to the director of the AZT bikepacking race John Schilling!!

The first half of the show is more of a normal Like a Bigfoot Podcast as we dive into John’s history with bikepacking and designing amazing routes (like the Queen’s Ransom ride).

In the second half of the show, co-host Thomas Mullins picks John’s brain for info about sections of the Arizona Trail that Thomas will be tackling on foot in April during Destination Trail’s Arizona Monster 300!!

….yes that’s right…300 miles of trail running through southern Arizona. It is the first year for the event and is looking to be beyond epic!

Thomas and our friend Phil Pinti are both taking on this challenge, so there will be more episodes about this event coming up over the next few months.

Phil Pinti is about 18 days out from toeing the start line of the Arizona Monster 300!! Once the gun goes off, he will have a week to take on this insanely long adventure that traverses the deserts of southern Arizona. This will be it's inaugaral year and is organized by the awesome Candice Burt and Destination Trails.

In this episode, we talk about his mindset a month out and his training up until this point before being joined by Randy Stephenson, Phil's crew chief for this event.

We also talk about the absolutely beautiful Route 66 Ultra put on by Heather and Marshall Ulrich, which is a race I HIGHLY recommend people check out! (My experience wasn't as beautiful but that had nothing to do with this amazing community of runners and the beautiful event they put on!)

Kate runs Serendipity Counseling and is a lifelong athlete and runner herself.

In this episode we chat about all sorts of things like, the struggles of an athlete who cannot compete in his/her sport anymore, perfectionism, disordered eating vs eating disorders, and 5 Habits that negatively impact your running.

Climate Stories Project (CSP) is an educational and artistic forum for sharing personal stories about the effects of climate change on our lives and communities. CSP focuses on personal oral histories, which bring an immediacy to the sometimes abstract nature of climate change communication. Some of us may recount dramatic events such as floods and wildfires, or we may address our observations of changes in seasonal patterns and our fears for the future of our families and communities. We may discuss how climate change is forcing our communities to adapt to extreme weather and sea level rise. Or we may speak about how we are getting involved in the movement to fight the fossil fuel industry through community organizing or nonviolent protest.There is no "right" way to talk about climate change, as it is a vast topic that is increasingly touching every corner of our lives. CSP also facilitates educational workshops where students learn to speak about their own responses to climate change and interview guest speakers about theirs. In addition, some climate stories are featured in music and soundscape projects that allow audiences to witness the effects of climate change in a novel way.
