Trails in the Sky - Sophisticated Fight (Recreation) [+FLP]

Zonder hoofdonderwerp maar met veel verhalen is de Button Bashers podcast na een lange zomerstop weer terug. In de Game Talk vertelt Niels waarom hij in 2024 pas gestart is met Skyrim en vertelt Michael waarom je Astro Bot als Playstation 5 bezitter niet mag missen. Ook wordt de Button Bashers dag bij Awesome Space besproken, en werd net voor de opname de Playstation 5 Pro ineens onthuld. Genoeg materiaal voor weer een lange aflevering dus!

Mike is nog steeds bezig geweest met het archiveren van zijn Playstation verzameling en Niels was in Zuid-Korea.

Zowel Mike als Niels hebben Diablo IV gespeeld, maar daar maken ze verder weinig woorden aan vuil. Voor Niels was het vooral The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim (00:37:49) waar hij veel tijd in stak, Michael raakte gecharmeerd van Astro Bot (01:08:18) en speelde de mobiele point and click adventures Midnight Girl (01:37:31) en The Silent Age (01:41:21). Niels speelde tot slot nog het eerste deel in de The Legend of Heroes serie, namelijk Trails in the Sky (01:44:57).

Op 28 september vond de jaarlijkse Button Bashers weer plaats, deze keer weer zoals vanouds bij Awesome Space die tegenwoordig in Hilversum gevestigd is. Iets met gamen en veel koffie..

Podcast 118: Nieuws van het najaar (en Button Bashers Dag 2024 bij Awesome Space)

Been working on this one for quite a while. It's a remix of Heartful Cry from Persona 3: The Answer!
I've been playing a lot on a TTRPG campaign I'm very into (been making plenty of original music for it too), and me and another player have been COOKING this narrative arc for something like a full year. Their character's betrayal, mine's struggle for understanding and ultimately a duel of clashing souls that brings their relationship to a brand new start, laying bare their true selves... good stuff. They WILL love each other so much.
We really wanted Heartful Cry as a BGM for their duel, but since they're both from Japanese-inspired countries we also wanted to use some kind of "traditional Japanese cover". I found none, so I made my own.
Since I was doing my own thing at that point, I've added a couple of twists! Both their character themes ("Crimson Revolution" and "Frozen Time Delusion", which I've composed myself) are present and it culminates in "Hoshi no Arika" from Trails in the Sky, which we also used recurringly in scenes where they started bonding before everything went down.
It was a blast to work on! Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it.
