Transformation does not happen automatically or mysteriously. It’s not the by-product of time, church attendance, or even prayer by itself. Change requires cooperation with the Spirit of God at the deepest, most uncomfortable level of your soul. And that level is guarded by two of the most fearsome gatekeepers in human experience: honesty and transparency. Thus, for this chapter, we want to delve into these soul-leveling, cross-aspiring questions. Are you willing to be honest about yourself? Are you willing to be transparent about yourself—with God and with others? Until you can answer yes to both, lasting change will remain out of reach.
