Changüí is one of the most important genres in Cuba. Originating from the East Coast Guantanamo region, Baracoa's sugar refineries & enslaved African communities, it combines the rhythms of the Bantu Region of Africa with the Spanish cancion & guitar & is the predecessor of son montuno. Here we have an interesting fusion of the original Changüí sound combined with the swinging jazz horns of Cuba's 40's when there was American influences coming in from the tourism & casinos. In Leonardo's signature style, adding the bass heavy four to the floor afro-house beats to make it complete.
