Based on another prayer every alcoholic will say at a meeting. The Serenity Prayer is not only for those who are addicted to any mind altering substance, but can bring peace and focus to anyone who recites it. Here's the prayer:
God give me the serenity to accept the things I can not change
The courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference.

My Serenity

This song about the 12 steps of AA reminds me every day why I am still alive and have a new future ahead of me. I wrote this song shortly after I started doing book work with my sponsor. The 12 steps of AA have taught me how to live no matter the situation without alcohol. It has taught me how to feel and the true meaning of love. Hope you like the song. Peace and Love Carl Runo  

These Twelve Steps

This song along with others is based on readings of poems and prose that we read in AA. It is based on the poem "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" Hope you like it and can live in the now or today as yesterday's gone and we cant get back and tomorrow isn't born in the rising of the Sun. Tomorrow's Not Alive (Cajun Flavored)

This song was hard to write and it is about a suicide attempt I did back when I was 17. My mother to this day doesn't know that I attempted suicide and few people do. Suicide is never the answer. Things seem bleak and dark when I attempted suicide, but they weren't a good enough reason to die. Thankfully I survived with little long term effects and am now comfortable talking about it to help those who are struggling. Hope the song talks to you. Thank you for listening. It's Not The Answer

This song I wrote to show how I felt when I drank or used drugs. Dr. Jekyll the normal me and the alcoholic me was Mr. Hyde. The story by Robert Louis Stevenson has been used by psychologist as an example of some one with mental illness. Him illustrating that Jekyll drank something to turn into Hyde makes me think more of alcoholism or drug addiction. I've learned that most people have two sides and wear a mask to hide their true selves. Hope you like the song. Peace and Love Carl Runo 

Just a Ghost of Mr. Hyde

This song I wrote while I was in detox for the fourth time. It's about the friendships i forged with a group of great people. I invented the game Jitter Jenga, we played it in from the first day where the shakes are pretty bad, while detoxing. By the fifth day we didn't shake so much. It was a great memory. The friends I made in detox are all still in touch with each other and often go to meetings together. What a great support they have been to me. Hence the writing of the song. Hope you enjoy it.
