Daniel Morford comes from a legacy of cannabis breeders and is a third generation ganja farmer with 19 years of experience. Founder of Pride of the Lion Seeds and co-founder with his father of Heartrock Mountain Farm. This family has been saving and breeding seeds for decades in the mountains of Mendocino County. 
Daniel has published a book of poetry Love Grows and continues to write, farm, raise babies and make seeds.

A soundscape capturing love, loss, and nostalgia through nature’s echoes. Recorded at UCSC. Narrated by me, with natural ambiance and faint music to evoke the feeling of memories lingering in the wind.

Theme & Message:
"Fading Echoes" is a reflection on love, loss, and the way nature mirrors the fleeting yet eternal nature of human connection. The soundscape is designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia, with wind and birdsong symbolizing memories—ever-present yet always changing. The faint music in the background serves as a distant echo of emotions, much like how certain songs transport us back to moments we thought were lost. Through this piece, I wanted to explore how sound can hold emotions, how the world continues moving even when we feel stuck in time, and how love, even when lost, never fully fades away.

Artistic & Technical Process:
I recorded all sounds myself at UCSC, capturing the wind moving through the trees, birdsong at sunrise, and the natural ambiance of the woods. I layered these elements in Adobe Audition, adjusting volume levels to create depth and an immersive atmosphere. The faint music was captured from a live moment rather than added as a backing track, in adherence to the project guidelines. I also used slight reverb and fade effects to give the narration a dreamlike, reflective quality.

One of the most interesting aspects of working with sound alone was realizing how much emotion it can carry without visuals. The absence of imagery forces the listener to create their own, making the experience more personal. By weaving together nature sounds and poetic narration, I wanted to create a piece that feels both intimate and universal—a moment suspended in time, where love and memory still linger in the air.
