Rev. Dr. Terasa Cooley is the Developmental Minister at First UU Church of Columbus. She has been a minister for over 35 years, serving both in parish roles as well as at the UUA. She is an Accredited Interim Minister that now specializes in helping congregations through experiences of clergy misconduct.

Being indigenous generally refers to belonging to a group of people who are the original inhabitants of a particular region or territory, often with distinct cultural, linguistic, and historical identities that are tied to their ancestral lands. This service is scheduled at the onset of when Americans annually celebrate the coming of Christopher Columbus (the beginning of the colonization of North America). We choose to identify with the native people of these lands and in opposition to colonialization… by celebrating the culture, traditions and spiritual gifts of our indigenous people to whom we owe so much.

You are encouraged to bring a photograph of a loved one to place at the front of the sanctuary prior to the service.
