DJ vmood - Pacal F.E.O.S. (Technique) vs Universal Indicator (Psychic Turbulence)

I've loved 'Polynomial C' since I first heard it in 1992, but back then I didn't like Breakbeat at all and wished he'd just done it as a straight four to the floor Techno track instead.

This is my attempt at that with the slightly chaotic Mike Dred track 'Psychich Turbulence'.

Discovered in June 2008, this version was created in Ableton Live in September 2011.

DJ vmood - Aphex Twin (Polynomial C) vs Universal Indicator (Psychic Turbulence)

Album is fully analogue, is made by programming Roland TR606 drum machine and synthesizing sounds on original (not modified) Roland mc202, using tricky sequencer the 'old-school' way (which you get used to with time).

I made cover art in Blender from scratch (except the mc202 model which I found for free on the net), and edited the image in GIMP.

Conception of the album is investigation of possibilities of the mc202:

1. different kinds and types of acid sounds,- from classic 303' like vibes, through mc202 flavor acid sound, to even more experimental acid lines; 

2. mc202 arpeggios, leads, sub bass, fx, textures;

3. different kinds of 202 electro bleeps or laser shots;

4. ZX spectrum like sounds; 

5. mc202 cartoony 'Felix the cat' voice sounds, which you can hear on Pandemonium track just before culmination. 

This makes mc202 an underestimated acid station, also called, among analogue lovers, as 'poor man's acid' for its considerably lower price compared to tb303 aaaaccccciiiiiddd. But as you can hear, mc202 is a flexible synth.

This album is about continuity of 'Universal Indicator tradition' - which can be described by its motto 'innovation in the dynamics of acid'. I wanted to express inspiration from 'Phuture', 'Stakker Humanoid', 'Mike Dred', 'Polygon Window', 'Ceephax Acid Crew', 'Buzz Caner', 'Acid Jesus', 'Luke Vibert', 'DMX Krew' and many more. 

In the album I also express inspiration from 90's PC games, SEGA games, ZX Spectrum games (you can hear Sir Clive Sinclair voice on 'Hewson Arcade Acid' track, as well as ZX Spectrum game 'Zynaps' 202 acid style).
