Whats up beautiful people!—
This is an original song I wrote. 

During the intensity of doing music full-time I've developed a good workflow and process. I'm a pretty methodical person and I really like sharing what I've learned (it helps me master my craft to organize and verbalize it), so I am starting to consider documenting,  filming, and releasing my journey of music-making for other budding musicians. I want to share how I am doing this with the world — starting from a simple song idea all the way releasing the track on Spotify. While at the airport with my family, lost in nostalgia, I started writing this song. I found myself questioning, who am I? What actually matters to me in life? And, how did I come to realize the importance of these things?

Due to complex trauma, I'm an emotionally enmeshed human. I'm working hard on overcoming codependent tendencies. So, instead of thinking for myself, I'm susceptible to taking on your (or society's) ideas of “what matters.” What did I take on, in my unconscious thirst for your acceptance & validation? Which of these things will actually still matter on the day I lose the people who I love that matter the most to me? 

When I dance or even just bob my head to music, I love how my senses (physical) and my heart (emotional) are in sync. For me, to dance is a meditation — it's a way to get the body & the mind connected and aligned. So when I'm rocking to the rhythm that EDM holds all of me in, I feel authentically in touch with who I am and what I feel. There's a sense of "Hey, I'm safe," and "Hey, it's ok to be me." And in that sanctuary, I'm safe from danger, anxiety, and fight/flight/fawn responses. And I can investigate such deep questions with much clarity. That’s what this song means to me.
