Led by a mysterious feminine presence made of light, he sets out across deserts, oceans and night skies to uncover the truth behind what he saw… and why he was chosen.

This version is a special alternative mix, created to explore the track’s more cinematic and spiritual edges.
The official original version will appear on my full concept album Human Odyssey, releasing in January 2027.

Blending orchestral drama, Middle Eastern textures, ethereal choirs and the haunting voice of the oud, this piece captures the moment a broken soul rises, reborn, and steps into destiny.

The piano was recorded in 2011 while volunteering at Fernbank Natural History Museum in Atlanta, GA. I would play at lunchtime in their cafe. I wore a tie with dinosaur fossils on it! :-)

I categorize my tracks as "psychedelic folk-rock avant-garde electronic ambient experimental". The recordings appear to be a cross between the styles of Brian Eno, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, Beck, The The (Matt Johnson), late 1960s psychedelic rock/folk, non-cheesy/non-sentimental new age, industrial, John Fahey, 1980s British alternative rock, 1990s U2, Kraftwerk, a hopeful anti-bleak version of Radiohead, contemporary electronica, late 1970s David Bowie, post-punk, a more energetic bit of Elliott Smith, 1980s New Wave pop, noise rock, and a positive incarnation of Depeche Mode.  

What does my music sound like to you?

Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, U2, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The The (Matt Johnson), Rush, The Who, psychedelic/hippie rock from late 60s, The Doors, 80s/90s Brit alt rock, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, The Kinks, Guns N' Roses, Brian Eno, Keith Green, Jeff Buckley, atmospheric music, Pearl Jam, Elvis Presley, Budgie, many Windham Hill artists, Tori Amos, late 60s/70s/80s classic rock, James Brown, Enya, The Verve, John Lennon, INXS, 70s Funk, Elton John, Beethoven, electronic music that sounds like rock, Marc Bolan (T-Rex), Bob Dylan, Metallica, The Chemical Brothers, Stone Temple Pilots, Missing Persons, John Williams, Kelley Stoltz, The Crystal Method, Of Montreal, Nirvana, Tears for Fears, Billy Joel, Megadeth, The Cars, Franz Schubert (piano, especially his impromptu compositions) and movie soundtracks "The Mission," "A Beautiful Mind", "Amistad", "Braveheart", "Gladiator", "The Firm", "Dances With Wolves" and "The Ghost and the Darkness".

In my mid-twenties, I began making these tunes after abandoning all former childhood creative activities in my teenage and young adult years: bit.ly/2F2dxVP. I am grateful that I persevered during the past 20 years or so, during which I committed myself to learning or relearning how to play instruments, compose songs, craft poetry/lyrics, sing, and record at home.  My level of respect for professional musicians and artists grew exponentially as I realized just how hard this work can be.  Along the path of this personal musical evolution, I experienced a lot of encouragement and inspiration from countless friends, musicians/artists, family, books, concerts, and documentaries.

I’m Dean R. Chandler — a London based songwriter, recording artist, and storyteller. My music is rooted in a lifelong search for meaning, weaving together themes of love, loss, faith, alien contact, and humanity’s future.

My upcoming double concept album Human Odyssey (set for release in January 2027) is the culmination of decades of writing and reflection. It’s a narrative journey that begins with a search for God and ends with an encounter with extraterrestrial intelligence — exploring not only what it means to be human, but also where we might be heading as a species. Musically, it draws inspiration from the epic storytelling of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds, the synth-driven edge of Gary Numan, and the emotional depth of artists like Tori Amos and Chris de Burgh.

I previously released Time Machine – Reflecting Shattered Dreams (2014) and continue to revisit my archive of songs written across 35 years, reimagining them with today’s tools and sounds. Some pieces remain intimate and acoustic, while others expand into dark rock, industrial, or orchestral landscapes — but all are connected by a focus on emotional honesty and cinematic storytelling.

Beyond music, I’m fascinated by the intersection of creativity and technology. I’ve been experimenting with AI-driven composition and production to bring old demos to life and to spark entirely new works. For me, these tools are not replacements for human artistry but extensions of it — ways of unlocking stories and emotions that otherwise might have remained hidden.

At its heart, my work is about connection: to the past, to the future, and to the unseen mysteries of existence. Music, for me, isn’t just entertainment — it’s a chronicle of transformation, a conversation between spirit, science, and sound.
